When you are teaching your pup/dog to “sit”, don’t say it, whilst pushing their bottom down. It’s a natural pose for them to do, so once you’ve got their attention, hold a treat slightly above their head so that they have to look up a little... you will find that their natural response is to look up, and plonk their bottom on the floor! As they do this, say “sit” in a HAPPY tone (not aggressive/commanding). They will realise, after a few goes, that they get a great every-time they do it and will learn to associate the sound you make (SIT), with that action. It will also sound as though it’s a good/fun thing to do - due to the “happy” tone, instead of doing it out of fear - because of an “aggressive” tone 🐶

TODAYS PUPPY TIP: when you first start toilet training, think of the word you are going to use for every time you are going to ask your dog to do his/her ‘business’! It could be... ‘Busy’ / ‘Toilet’ / ‘Empty’ / ‘Job’ - just to offer some suggestions. Also, if you want them to ‘spend’ in a certain area, make sure you take your pup to it! - not open and make them follow you... they may ‘go’ before you get there! When a dogs gotta go... a dogs gotta go! & please congratulate us when we ‘toilet’ correctly! 🐶💩

PUPPY TIP: training takes time, effort & patience. Your new/old furry friend will need you to spend 5-10 minutes at regular intervals throughout the day focusing on 1 trick at a time - as they will lose interest if you spend too long, trying to teach it all in one go! ... and we love a treat to show we have done well 🐶👅🐾
