Animal Tracker Pet Microchip Register
Since April 2016 it is law for the keeper of a dog to keep their address details up to date, failure to comply could result in a £500.00 fine. Your address and pet details must be registered along with your microchip number on an approved pet microchip database, such as Animal Tracker. A microchip is recommended by the RS

PCA, Dogs Trust and many other organisations as an effective way of permanently linking pets to their owners, increasing the chances of them being reunited if the animal is lost, stolen or strays. Thousands of pets are lost every year and many are never reunited with their owners. We believe that microchipping is the most effective way of identifying a lost pet, chips don't come off like collars. Animal Tracker Microchips are designed to last for the life of a dog. How does microchipping work? Once an animal has been microchipped with an Animal Tracker Microchip it has its own unique code number rather like an invisible barcode. The owner's details and the code are stored securely in the Animal Tracker database. When a lost or stolen animal is found, the code will be revealed by passing a scanner over the microchip. Then it's just a matter of matching the code with the database record. Is microchipping easy to do? Yes, it's as simple as an injection. A tiny microchip the size of a grain of rice is painlessly inserted under the animal's skin. Once in, the microchip is not visible, but can be read by the scanner. Register a Pet Microchip
If your pet has an Animal Tracker microchip you should have received a transfer or registration code (8 digits long) from the previous keeper, the breeder or the microchip implanter. If you do not have a code you can still register if you know your pets microchip number. Your transfer code or microchip number will usually be found on your paperwork, or it may have been sent to you by text message or in an email. If you do not have a code you can still register,

Update Your Details
To update your details please login to your account. It is important that both Keeper and animal records are kept up to date on the Animal Tracker Site. If a Keeper's contact details change, or if an animal moves to a new Keeper, failure to update the corresponding online record may result in a significant delay, or even failure, in reunification. Animal Tracker offers a Premium account, where Keepers can update their contact details for free during the lifetime of their pet. They can also add a temporary address and phone number if, for example, they are going on holiday and the animal stays with a family member / kennels. Those with approved Implanter, Premium Breeder and Welfare accounts may also update their contact details for free within the lifetime of their account. Pet Owners and Breeders with a Basic account will need to upgrade to a Premium account in order to update their contact information or add in temporary address details. As well as unlimited changes of contact details, Premium account holders can benefit from the following:

Keep multiple pet records in one place - add up to 5 animals with Animal Tracker microchips within one Premium account. Add Vet information to the microchip record. Access to special offers and discounts. Add temporary addresses when you go on holiday or have to spend time away from your pet. Premium Account holders will have access to the following if their pet is missing:

The animal's microchip number will be sent to the network of Scanner Angel microchip scanners. If the animal is found and scanned with one of these it will recognise they are listed as missing and will display Animal Tracker's contact number alongside the microchip number. Current legislation regarding dogs states that the Keeper must record their name, address and contact number on a recognised database. Upgrading to a Premium account allows you to update your contact details and therefore comply with this current legislation. Lost Pets
Please inform Animal Tracker as soon as possible if your pet goes missing. The best way to do this is by logging into your account and selecting the 'report missing' button in your pet's record. Check that your contact details are up to date. You may wish to review your privacy setting to allow your contact details to be visible if your pet's 15 digit microchip number is entered into the Animal Tracker database, or given out to a member of the Animal Tracker team by an external party. This may facilitate a quicker reunification. Once marked as missing, your pet's microchip number will be sent to the network of Scanner Angel microchip scanners. If your pet is found and scanned with one of these it will recognise they are listed as missing and will display Animal Tracker's contact number. Premium Account holders will have access to the following:

Alerts sent out by text / email to the local area (option to add in an alternate postcode if the animal is missing from an area different to their registered address). Ability to add a photo and create/download missing posters. If you are not a Premium account holder then you may choose to upgrade. If you are not in a position to access your online account please call our 24/7, 365 lost and found number on 01279 219777. Our customer service team will need to verify all callers before proceeding so please have the pet's microchip number to hand. What to do next....
Contact vets, local charities and rescues to see if your pet has been found or handed in - give them the microchip number along with your contact details. To inform your local authority / dog warden please click here
Search the local area. Animals may become trapped in garages or sheds, so pay particular attention to these. If you are a dog owner whose pet went missing whilst on a walk, trace the route, calling / whistling for your dog. Let your neighbours know so they are aware. Create and distribute missing posters (if you are a Premium customer you can do this via your account) to local shops, gyms, post offices etc. Contact your pet insurance provider (if applicable), as they may offer financial assistance and advice on missing pets. Look at Sites such as DogLost and LostBox who have a wide social media reach. Please remember to inform us if you are reunited with your pet via your Animal Tracker account. Found a Pet

How do I find the microchip number? For dogs:

If you do not know if the dog is microchipped you can visit your nearest Pets at Home (8-8pm, 7/7), Vets or Welfare organisation. They will scan the dog and, if they locate a microchip, they can check which database it is registered to initiate the process of reuniting the animal with its owner. You should contact the dog warden for your local authority. The Environment Protection Act 1990 states that the finder of a stray dog should either return the dog to its owner, or inform the officer of the local authority (dog warden service) and have it collected. Environment Protection Act 1990. For cats:

Unlike dogs, there is currently no legislation obliging local authorities to deal with stray cats. You can ask your neighbours if their cat is missing and contact vets and welfare organisations to report the animal. Paper collering the cat is a good idea and sharing the cat on local pet lost and found groups can help reunite the pet. If the animal is injured please take it to your local vets.

On Saturday 20th July 2024 we are having a day full of fun for the doggy’s & humans, to raise money for Bristol Dog & Cats Home! As well as raising money we will also hold a collection of any spare beds/food/leads you have to also donate. We will have lots of games to play, all donations only!

There will also be a personalisation station where you can buy an item and get it personalised with your dog or cat’s name or you can bring your own item to get personalised!

The amazing indoor dogs playground Pooch Play Time will also be joining us to show us all what amazing activities they have at their sessions. We can’t wait to see everybody!

If your pet has been microchipped on any database you can register for a free online account from here you can check to make sure the chip has been registered and check all your details and update them if needed such as a phone number change (fee may be applicable depending on your account)

If you have been told your chip is not registered or need to update them and don’t know how

I can also help if you want to change databases for any reason, some accounts are cheaper than others

I do NOT use or migrate to SmartTrace but will to most others and can recommend the cheapest databases to use

About Me

I am a fully qualified mobile Microchip implanter, and Secretary of state approved trainer/ assessor for Peddymark, registered with Animal Tracker and Petlog databases, covering the Bristol and surrounding areas. Microchipping dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets & other small mammals. Fully Insured, DBS checked and First aid trained in animals

I use the mid range chip from Peddymark, this covers all animals no matter of adult weight, it is the same diameter needle as the mini chip and the microchip is the size of a grain of rice. I use Animal Tracker database which comes with free basic account plus 4 weeks free insurance from Agria.

I have a Degree in Wildlife Conservation Science *which include animal behavior Extended Diploma in Animal Management *which include animal handling Veterinary Assistant Diploma
