My name is Thomasin and I’ve spent most of my life working with animals. Now I specialise in providing a high quality and professional grooming service for dogs. I have to admit, I have a soft spot for the sausage variety! Since I started teeth cleaning I see them often, dachshunds are genetically predisposed to having really bad teeth. This little guy comes every six weeks to keep his pearly whites clean.
Teeth maintenance can prolong your dogs life expectancy by 2 to 5 years, the plaque, tartar and bacteria in your dogs mouth doesn’t just rot their teeth. It enters their bloodstream and poisons their organs.

Interesting fact I learnt this week; Trimming out the insides of the dogs pads improves properception (awareness of the body and limbs in space) Also trimming the hind clause changes the angle of the foot, to the degree that it actually affects the motion of the sacral iliac joint SI. So basically if the back claws are too long, it restricts the SI joint and the dog’s hind limb movement. A couple of beneficial facts about grooming, I did not know.

The reason I asked clients to bring puppies in as early as possible is not just because I love kissing and cuddling them. It is to introduce them to the equipment that I’m going to be using when they’re an adult dog, helping them to desensitise to all of these strange things that can be scary. Isn’t Bueno completely adorable 😍

⭐️Please read⭐️ As you all know I absolutely love my job and feel incredibly lucky to do what I do. However September has been a challenging month with over 20 clients asking to move the date or time of their appointments. Keeping on top the diary often feels like a full time job, this is why I’m often sending out messages late in the evening. If you’re not able to make your appointment please can you exhaust all possible options of anybody else bringing your dog for you, before contacting me. Also please give me as much time as possible, If your appointment is in a few weeks, this makes it a lot easier for me to move appointments around. Thank you so much to everybody who has agreed to move their appointments to accommodate another client.

I have recently began to study the trust technique. The technique teaches you how to use your mind to reduce and animals thinking levels down to the point where they become very relaxed and can fall asleep. If you watch closely, you can see that Rosie is fighting to keep her eyes open. Its a really useful technique to use while I’m teeth cleaning as you have to remain very still while you’re practising the technique. ☺️🦷🪥

Becky is a rescue dog from overseas. She used to really panic and struggle having her nails done. It’s only taken her three sessions to realise that it doesn’t hurt. She’s a really sweet girl 🥰

This is Bonnie, her owners were made to feel ashamed by the previous groomer for Bonnie‘s behaviour. Bonnie is an extremely nervous dog who barks loudly when she’s scared, she is triggered by noise. It has taken me months to get to the point where I can blow dry her with the dryer on full blast and the on nozzle too. Interestingly, you can see at the very start of the video Bonnie barking because she is aware that I am not present, this is because I’m messing with my phone to take a video. As soon as I’m president again she stops barking. Animals can pick up on the smallest of things.

This big gorgeous boy Luca has been coming to me from very soon after I started. He’d had a bad experience being groomed I’m unsure what happened, but if I had to guess I’d say he fell off the table or pull the table over. He’s still very nervous but he willingly jumps in the bath and on the table when ask him with absolutely no forse at all. 🥰

Dottie used to have such a fear of having her nails trimmed, in particular the front right one. Her owner was really worried about finding a groomer when she moved to the area. I find it really rewarding when dogs learn to trust me. 😍
