Reflecting a bit today…
It’s been a tough couple of weeks. There are always going to be things in life that take the wind out of your sails. But life goes on and you have to learn to cope with whatever comes your way- but that doesn’t make it any easier at the time.
I have struggled at communicating how I feel and I will literally give myself a migraine instead of letting out some tears( getting better now but still)
I was thinking about what I do to pick myself back up when things are hard. My family and friends are great and help me immensely don’t get me wrong - but one thing that never fails to make me feel better is coming home to my dog.
I’m the biggest believer in the way pets add value to your life, or why would we get dogs in the first place? They know when you are down and know how to make you feel better in the purest most non judgemental way.
I’ve seen it first hand in my relationship with my dog Jura and also have seen they way they can bring joy to people in need- there is a reason therapets exist, and it’s scientifically proven that they help people. We rely on dogs in so many different ways.
So for all the good they do how can we make sure that they are fulfilled and happy? It’s all to do with how you train and care for your dog and the time and energy you put in to them. And yes, sometimes we will have challenges- whether that be training hurdles or the “teenage dirtbag” phase gets real (and it is very real Jura can confirm) - whatever it is , it’s worth the time and energy to work on as the outcome will be a stronger more fulfilling relationship.
Anyway I’m away to cuddle my dog because I need it.

Hello!
We are officially opening up our books for our puppy training classes starting September 4th!
Our puppy classes set you up with training foundations, introducing calm, focus and responsiveness to your puppy’s vocabulary, whilst learning some new tricks along the way in a fun and rewarding environment.
Classes are all lead by a IMDT qualified trainer and support during and outwith classes is provided to ensure successful learning.
Classes will run on Saturdays and Wednesdays for a block of 6 weeks. The cost is £100 and classes are suitable for dogs 10-20 weeks old who are fully vaccinated. Classes will be held in Freuchie Further details on booking 😊
Slots available :
Wednesdays (starting 4th Sept) 6pm- 6:45pm
Saturdays (starting 7th Sept) 10am-10:45am

✔️access to trainer support outwith class

✔️option to continue training with IMDT partnership grades classes

Not been posting on here for a while due to busy few months…
Most of you know myself and Ben decided to tie the knot and thought I’d share with you some special shots we got as many of you have been asking how it went!
Can confirm that jura behaved very well but did eventually decide the water was calling her…as expected 😂😂 at least we got a few good ones of her not sodding wet though 😂❤️

Thanks to everyone- I’ve had THE best dogs and humans, so so lucky for you all. It’s really not been easy having to hang up my leads and let me tell you many tears have been shed, but I’ve got to tell myself its the best decision for me and the business.
I’m still here and hopefully the future has lots of exciting things lined up for Summit moving forward. Talk about moving- better get out of bed and get to work! Moving house is fun and not stressful at all - said no one ever🥲

Out in the arctic tundra today with this lot + auntie Kerry at Mind the Dugs and her dugs👌👌⭐️
Despite the sleet storm and mud slides we had a grand old time with new and old friends. Wilson will always make me laugh with his grunty barks😂

What delightful weather we are having today… not 🙃
The weather may have been a bit ming but the water babies were out to play 💦🦆🐟 Callie and Laika say the wet weather always make the sniffs even better too! Too good at times, as their ears were more painted on today it seems 😂
We then met up with Lara and her three. Spike was not too impressed with the rain but decided that the promise of a mouse hunt with his sister Iris trumped his hatred of the rain. Beau didn’t understand the hype so just ran about like a dafty while they did their thing!

Lots of bitey face, slobbers on heeds and games of “it’s raining Pâté” today. It was also good meeting old/ new friends on the hills today too 👌⭐️
Baxter the “hippolab” was out in full glory wallowing about in the puddles🦛 Everybody was on their best behaviour and the sun even decided to make an appearance later on which gave us some extra pep in our step ☀️🎉

Had a great walk today….
Went through the woods and stepped over a fallen tree trunk which turned out to be a death trap .. fell on my arse, lay there for a second pondering my existence then shook myself off. Then 10 minutes later realise I’m missing some very important items….
Thank god I got my squares bar back!🤪 🥰🥰🥰
Luckily it’s been ingrained in me as a dog walker to remember my steps on my walks and it helps to have a second phone with “find my iPhone” on it 🤣 crisis averted. Away to lick my wounds now 😂😂 laughing that I actually have a picture of me mid fall though 😂😂😂

Friday at last!
I’m happy to report Sully has redeemed himself from yesterdays antics… it may be that he was still tired from yesterday but I’ll take what I can get! His mum says he’s gubbed 😂👌
Also as much as I tried I could not get a group shot today where 1. Nala was looking or 2. Sully or Luna weren’t jumping like springboks 🤦♀️

Another wild Friday walk with this bunch of cuties ❤️
Everybody was on their best behaviour but absolutely aff their rockers😂
The girls , Amira, Jura, Luna and Nala were non stop energy and Amira and Jura are currently cuddled up on my lap fast asleep 💤 no wonder!
Dash on the other hand was not best impressed with the rocky terrain and was aware of the danger of being run over by a crazed Weimaraner, but he toddled along quite the thing using me as a human shield and enjoying the sun nonetheless. ☀️
We also met a fellow walker, starting up his dog walks soon- his business name is “The Hairy Hikers Dog Walking” so look out for him in the future if you want a Dunfermline based walker offering group and solo walks !

I have been AWFUL on the social media front sorry guys. It’s just such a busy time for us!

Baxter’s sis Freya came out with us today and all was going swimmingly until she thought she would scale down the side of the wrong end of the hill to actually go swimming 🏊♀️ 😅 long story short I had to follow her and ended up on my arse, a lot, while saying a lot of bad words… bearing in mind as well that the wind was HOWLING at this point too and it felt like my eyelids were inside out 😂😂 then I got down to the bottom and turn round and realise she’s standing directly behind me watching me struggle, for how long she had been there who knows! If you don’t laugh you cry 😭😂😎

Friday fun in the sun ☀️with the mad mental bunch. Laika joined us today and she was like a tornado from start to finish. Luckily Nala , Luna and Jura were happy to join in the carnage as Dash watched from a safe distance😂 he’s no daft.
Jura decided that she no longer went by the name “Jura “apparently as she didn’t respond to it at all! Have gotten too attached to my whistle when out on solo walks with my own miss juju, so will be doing some name recall again I think! It happens! Training is something that should be ongoing, it doesn’t just stop after the puppy phase! Also don’t be disheartened if your pup not responding the way they once did - you just have to get back to regular, fun and rewarding training to get them back on track. I’ll have my duck pate at the ready and Jura will be all mine 👍

Fred casually getting a cuddle from my cat on our walk the other day 😂😂 Fred’s mum said that he usually wants to eat cats but after seeing Jura and how she reacted to her sis he realised that not all cats are the enemy. Hi everyone! 📣 So as some of you know I took a trip to Wales with Jura in August to complete my IMDT practical training. Following this I am happy to say that I passed my assessment ! The IMDT uses positive based training techniques and I will be following these ethics too. Though this is the tip of the iceberg and I plan on doing more focussed learning, I will be incorporating some training in to my schedule next year. If you have any questions or if you/ someone you know would like some more info please get in touch 👌 Fun times ahead 🐾
