After an absolutely brilliant 3 days at the IGL championship held at Queensberry Estate by kind permission of The Duke of Buccleuch and perfectly managed by their team of keepers, guns and beaters managed by Rab Clark, we managed to finish the championship with FTCH Craigmaddie Mufasa of Bishopbrae (Ace) and be awarded 3rd place and also The Lorna Countess Howe Memorial Trophy.

Well done again to Davie Lisett who won the IGL championship with HM King Charles III’s FTCH Buccleuch Bowhill of Sandringham and everyone else in the awards.

It was a great honour to be able to qualify via the long B route and then compete at the championship for the third time with Ace. With 67 dogs that had qualified for the 2023 Championship it was going to be a tough competition with the best dogs and handlers competing from across the UK and Ireland, it’s a great honour to call many of them friends.

I would like to thank all my family and friends who have helped along the road with this journey with Ace, it is greatly appreciated. It’s maybe not always been an easy one, but certainly has been enjoyable one for sure.

A major thanks to all the clubs, the IGL, secretaries, judges, helpers, keepers and guns up and down the country who have given up their time to put on the field trials for everyone to compete it in!

Now it’s time to just enjoy the dogs for the rest of the season before it all starts again in the spring.

We are pleased to say we had a lovely litter of 8 yellow Labrador pups (4 boys & 4 girls) born on the 5th November. Mother of the pups is Moi (Moi Locharber) and the father is Red (OFTAW Fintryhills Breeze of Bishopbrae).

Pups are doing well with and their little characters are coming out now.

There is a couple which will be 👀 for their new postcode in the new year. Pedigree of the pups are in the pictures, but any questions please PM us.

We have had a great start to the trialing season for both our spaniels and retrievers. With Janice winning the Gamekeepers National Association’s Novice AV Spaniel stake at Barwhillanty Estate with Spamvalley Corrolla. David has also received some luck with winning the Southwest Scotland Gundog Association’s 2 day Retriever Open Stake at Slipperfield Estate with Craigmaddie Mufasa of Bishopbrae, this win qualifies him for this years IGL Retriever Championship and also makes him up to a Field Trial Champion (Subject to KC Approval).

We would like to thank the Clubs, Estates, Judges and everyone involved in putting these events on for their members.

FTCH Craigmaddie Mufasa of Bishopbrae - Available at stud

Ace is proven sire and is a large sized athletic build yellow labrador. He has proven himself in Field Trials and Working Tests with numerous awards. He was selected as the reserve dog for Scotland at The Gamefair in England and was part of the winning Retriever team and Overall team for Scotland at Scone Gamefair 2021. Ace has won a novice field trial and then went onto win a 2 day open field trial in his next competition and qualified for 2021 Retriever Championship. Ace was part of the team GB that competed and won at the Kennel Clubs International Working Test 2022 and has been selected as part of the 2022 Scotland Gundog team for the Game Fair and Scottish Gamefair. He has received numerous awards in the 2022 trialing season including winning a 2 day open to make him up to a Field Trial Champion and also qualify for the 2022 IGL Retriever Championship.

He does numerous days picking up as well as trialing where he has proven to be a key player within the team. He is a kind dog with a lot of natural ability, Ace is very hard going in the working field but switches off when back in the house.

We are based in central Scotland.
