She then went on to pursue a career in animal rehabilitation and graduated from Harper Adams University in 2014 with an MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy, accredited by the National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists (NAVP). After qualifying as a veterinary physiotherapist, Samantha spent the next few years pursuing her passion for small animal rehabilitation. She was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work at a number of specialist rehabilitation centres in the south east, enabling her to further develop and refine her physiotherapy and hydrotherapy treatment techniques. She also ran a mobile small animal physiotherapy service on the Isle of Wight. SG Veterinary Physiotherapy are specialists in canine rehabilitation and fitness with experience in treating a range of orthopaedic and neurological conditions. Physiotherapy can be beneficial in the treatment of: osteoarthriritis hip and elbow dysplasia degenerative myelopathy spinal issues cranial cruciate ligamnet injury tendonitis muscle strain mobility issues in elderly animals sports injuries in athletic dogs. Each patient is individually assessed in order to tailor a physiotherapy treatment plan to meet their needs. The aim of physiotherapy is to restore movement and function as near to normal as possible. This can encompass pain management, maintenance of joint mobility, increasing muscle strength and more. Treatment sessions will vary depending on patient needs but can include a combination of electrotherapy, massage, stretching and land based exercises. In order to ensure that patients are receiving the best treatment, Samantha undertakes various CPD training events throughout the year to keep her skills and knowledge up to date.
