Exciting news!

Our open days are confirmed and will be Friday 27th and Saturday 28th September! (Appointments not available on these days)

We will then officially open for normal business and appointments on Monday 30th September.

Come along on our open days to meet us and have a look around our shiny new purpose built practice.

Things are really starting to take shape. Reception area and surgical prep room no longer empty shells. Phil and the construction team are at it all hours. Thank you to Leila and the rest of the Pets at Home staff for putting up with the current chaos.

Pets at Home has launched a pre-packed bag for customers to donate to the Isle of Man Foodbank. This follows a similar scheme for people food and supplies that recently launched at Tesco. The charity said:

Important info for us on the island 🇮🇲

Have you heard of leptospirosis? 😧

Leptospirosis, often shortened to lepto, is a disease caused by bacteria that damage vital organs, such as the liver and kidneys. It’s very serious and often fatal in dogs.

Dogs can catch leptospirosis from:

- Another infected dog
- Sniffing/licking the ground where an infected dog has urinated
- Urine from an infected cow, pig or rodent
- Infected wet ground or fresh water - lepto can live in wet ground and fresh water for several months

Leptospirosis can also be spread to other dogs by infected dogs, mice, rats and cows but can also be caught from infected water. So, if your dog lives on a farm, kills rodents or spends a lot of time swimming, they’re at a much higher risk of catching it ⚠️

There are a few different types of leptospirosis bacteria and each one is slightly different. Fortunately, we can vaccinate against the types of lepto bacteria commonly found in the UK. Find out more: http://pdsa.me/rwlP

Hello! My name is Kate Gledhill and I have been a vet on the Island for 20 years.

I came to the Island for a 3 month locum position and forgot to leave! I am now married to a Manx farmer and am passionate about my adopted homeland.
After a small career break to help look after my Mum, I am now starting my new adventure, with the backing of Vets for Pets. Things are taking shape on the new mezzanine inside the Pets at Home store in Douglas, a purpose built practice to allow me to offer high quality GP veterinary care to the pets on the Island.

We will be at the next week, and will be able to take pre-registration from that point, opening our doors to look after your pets at the end of September.

I would also like to thank all of the staff at Pets at Home for managing the disruption caused by the building works so well!
