I was a bit apprehensive of our new boarder Chewys first stay as he's a feisty high prey driven young man with little recall and resource guarding behaviour. I was thinking that Bud might be not so good with him but Bud has been a gentleman and I'm very proud of him👏(🙏so far😂🤞) for welcoming Chew calmly into the house. X

Is that time of you again😳 and some of you know one of my clients Rocky who has had a couple of surgeries to try and get one of these out😒 Bud had surgery a year or two ago to get one of these out😞 check your dogs all over for these every day. Especially if you're going anywhere near this grass there's loads of it on the Rec on the Maer and in Phear Park, less so up the common. It will tangle in the hair but if it's anywhere near the skin it'll get in and it'll work its way into Ears, toes, groin. More so with curly breeds who don't shed but all breeds are affected.

Our Story

Welcome to my Pets Outdoors page About Pets Outdoors Pets Outdoors is all about getting your pets outdoors providing care and company. We are a brand new enterprise with years of experience of pet owner ship and over 10 years of work experience within the equine industry. We offer dog walking dog, small pet visits and equine care. We believe no matter what your lifestyle you should feel confident that Pets Outdoors will visit your pets make sure they are exercised and cared for whilst your busy at work on holidays or for whatever reason. We believe no matter what your life style keeping pets should be possible and all their daytime needs can be met from a visit from Pets Outdoors. At Pets Outdoors we can make sure all your pets are given a personal service allowing you to keep your commitments go about your daily business without having to worry about Fido floppsie or Blaise. We operate in the Exeter and Exmouth area we visit horses and cats in this area and walk on the beautiful local beaches and riversides plus Woodbury common. Dogs can be collected and transported to the beach the river or Woodbury (depending on your location) and socialised in a small group walk or walked from your home on their local walks. About Me I grew up surrounded by animals in my families’ country pub. We had dogs and cats hamsters and rabbits. I saved up in a piggy bank for my first pony Cheddar George who I paid £90.00 for in the 80s I went on to be a member of the Beaufort Hunt Pony Club and owned and brought on several ponies and horses over the years until I started working fulltime as a groom from the age of 15 to 25. I event groomed for my local yard at the Doddington Estate near Badminton. I then travelled the world as a groom working in America as a carriage groom, Austria and Italy as a showjumping/dressage groom and nanny. I also worked at kids’ camp America as a riding instructor and sold tack and custom fitted hats for Patey of London in California. I did all of that before the age of 25 and went on to qualify to BHS level 2 and PTT (preliminary teaching test) only leaving full time grooming when I dislocated my kneecap putting a halt to my BHSAI training in the late 90s I gave up the life of a travelling freelance groom and went on to qualify as a secondary school science teacher and later had a management career in catering and retail for over ten years. I settled here in Devon in 2005 with my two adorable mini Schnauzers Robbie and Ruby I love nothing more than to hang out with them cuddle them and walkies with them in our fantastic location here in Exmouth. We often go for romps on Dartmoor and we have holidayed together and travelled to great walking locations in Devon. One day recently I decided I want to do something I am passionate about again having the life I did whilst grooming was fantastic and the best job ever but not conducive to a mortgage and commitments. I have decided to use my experience and skills and absolute mad passion for dogs to launch Pets Outdoors I love all animals and am passionate about their welfare and wellbeing my minis are like children to me and treated like the most precious family member. I know what it’s like to work long shifts or wanting to travel and attend events and still have pets at home to worry about. My home is not home without them and I cannot bear the thought of not having dogs. I would only entrust my babies with real animal lovers and that I can assure you I am. Have peace of mind knowing that your pet will be happy, safe and cared for as if they were my own. I am an affordable, reliable and totally trustworthy lover of all creatures great and small. CRB Checked and fully insured. Services offered by Pets Outdoors Dogs Pets Outdoors are able to provide a variety of services to ensure your dogs needs are looked after whilst you are working, away for the day or simply busy with other commitments. As a general rule, dogs should not be left on their own for more than 4 hours at a time. Often, when left for long periods, problems can occur - destructive behavior, chewing the furniture, barking and separation anxiety. By taking dogs for a walk during the day, it provides the necessary stimulation and exercise required to fulfil a dog’s need for social interaction, leading to a happier, more satisfied pet. Making use of the many areas found locally, our dog walking aims to give your dog a stimulating and enjoyable walk in a safe environment. These can be individual visits for your dog(s) and or multi walks, with up to four dogs at a time transported in a safe vehicle fitted with dog safety harness and dog guards. Every dog has different needs depending on their age, breed and size. Here at Pets Outdoors, we can provide your dog with specific needs. Dog services include: • Maximum of four dogs handled at any one time • One hour of exercise (less for older dogs, as required by arrangement) • Puppy socialization and walks • Off lead exercise (subject to agreement of my off lead policy) • One-to-one dog walking available • Basic training reinforcement (sit, stay, heel, come, down) • Regular and occasional dog walking available • Yard and garden de-pooping If you require any other arrangements, please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss them. For the safety of everyone, including your dog, it is required that he/she is sociable and friendly on and off the lead with other dogs, adults and children. Bi***es in season will not be walked in a group but can be walked individually Puppy and Elderly Dog Visits Our puppy and elderly pet care service offers you units of time during the day to visit your dog(s) at home. During the visit we walk your dog or puppy, play, and if required help with ongoing training, toileting breaks, etc., along with, of course, lots of TLC. Horses Horse & Pony Visits/Care Pet Outdoors are able to provide care for your horses and / or ponies, coupled with affection and attention, whilst you are away or at work or simply short of time. We are happy to offer a regular service or equally as happy to help on an 'as and when required' basis. With plenty of experience under our belts, we offer the following services: Our services are tailored to the individual requirements of each horse, however to provide you with a guide our Care service will include the following:- • AM – Feed, groom, rug change, turnout, muck out, hay (Currently AM is Unavailable) • PM – Bed down, bring in, groom, rug change, feed • Half Day Care is available upon request • Field Care This package can include either one or two visits per day during which we will thoroughly check your horse for any abnormalities and will pick out feet. The field perimeter will be inspected for damage to fencing and any other potential hazards. Where possible these will be repaired. Field water troughs will be cleaned and the field receives 30 minutes of muck removal. Hay, hard feed and rug changes will be carried out as instructed. Exercise Riding – tacking horse up in specified tack, riding horse/pony for specified exercise and untacking, where necessary sponging off sweat marks and cooling off. Waiting Service, including Farrier, Vet and Dentist etc. Just like humans your horse requires regular health check-ups. Rather than taking a day’s annual leave please allow us to step in. We will guarantee to be at your stables 15 minutes before the appointment. And in the event that your specialist is running ahead of schedule we will, the day before the appointment provide him/her with our mobile telephone number so they can advise us accordingly. Cats Pets Outdoors are happy to accommodate owners that want to leave their cats at home in their own environment, with familiar comforts and smells, particularly with elderly cats and cats that need medication. Cats are very independent and territorial and they don’t relish the idea of change. Our cat sitting service allows clients to go away safe in the knowledge that Pets Outdoors are visiting their cats to feed, clean litter trays if required, play, along with lots of TLC. Cat services include: Minimum of one visit in 24 hours – 20 minutes per visit Feeding to your requirements Litter trays cleaned Fresh water All bowls cleaned Record sheet Lots of cuddles! If you would like me to make your home look ‘lived in’ while you are away, I can pick up your mail, open and close curtains and put the bins out All food and cat litter will need to be provided.
