#FARM24 As the day comes to an end of this year’s 24 hours in farming, we would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our farmers for their hard work and dedication to British Farming 🚜🌾Thank you to everyone who also followed our journey today! Farmers Guardian Morrisons
Breakfast has been served this morning 😋 #mondaymotivation

Do you remember this little goat that Chris saw a couple of months ago? (Previous picture in the comments)
She managed to dislocate her foot by trapping it in a feeder. Chris relocated the joint and put a splint on!
This is her now, back to wondering round with her mum and enjoying the sunshine ☀️
Routine Fertility Visit 🐮 Why do we do it, and what does it involve?
Proud mum of twins delivered caesarean by our vet, Amber 💛
It may be drizzling (or pouring) but Spring has certainly sprung - so the lambing calls have been coming in! These little twins were held up by one twin getting ‘a-head’ of himself (we make no apologies for our puns) and trying to come out face first! A little reshuffle by on-call vet, Vicki, and they were delivered safe and sound. Welcome to the world, little ones 🐑
This is a video of OPU, here you can see a follicle slowly decreasing in size as the egg is collected through a special piece of kit using ultrasound guided aspiration. See our previous post for what the team have been up to! Tyndale Vets Ltd Advanced Breeding Draminski Veterinary Ultrasound Scanners
Ultrasound - not just useful for pregnancies!
Vet Vicki was on farm yesterday seeing a calf who has suffered repeated episodes of pneumonia.
Ultrasound examination showed numerous abscesses in the lung tissue, common of animals with "waxing and waning" chronic pneumonia. We will be monitoring the progress of this heifer using ultrasonography to see if she responds to her modified treatment protocol - fingers crossed she shows some improvement!
Can you spot the abscesses on the ultrasound?
Trivia Thursday!
Do you know what our vets are analysing when they scan your cows? There is so much more information we can gather from ultrasound scanning than a simple ‘yes or no’!
Vicki was on farm yesterday sexing foetuses. See if you can spot the reproductive anatomy of this foetus..

The best way to finish a Friday for our Vet Vicki.. ✅ 230 cows all PD’d and vaccinated in 3 hours! With 93% in-calf, in an 8 week block.. February looks to be busy!
The power of social enrichment.
Whether it’s a calf, a cow, a bull (or a human!), social enrichment is vital for reducing stress.
Our vets Vicki and Alex are visiting the Genus Stud unit in wales today. It is very clear to see- happier animals perform better!

Calf Week 13-20th September 2023 🐮
Calf Rehydration with Hydrafast
Hydrafast sachets both hydrate and provide essential nutrition to scouring calves. They contain high levels of glucose, which drives water absorption into the calf’s tissues and provides an energy source when the calf has a reduced appetite for milk.
Hydrafast should only be mixed with water but can be given alongside milk feeding with approx. three-hour gap between the two. One sachet is to be mixed with 2 litres of clean, fresh, warm water and it is best teat or bucket fed, but it can be tube fed if required at the first signs of diarrhoea.

VET TECH WEEK
This week we are going to be focusing on all of our Vet Tech services that we offer:
Mobility and Body Condition Scoring
Mobility scoring is used to identify any cows which show signs of lameness to ensure they receive prompt treatment.
Research shows early intervention has far greater success in treating lameness.
Body Condition Scoring is a useful management tool for monitoring the nutrition status of the herd and the different management groups, highlighting problem areas for intervention.
Our Vet Techs are all ROMS-accredited and can be booked on an ad hoc basis or as part of a regular routine.
The lengths you’ll go to, to read a TB test!
We hope everyone is managing today after the rainfall we’ve had.
