Thank you to everyone who had a guess for Bijouโs weight on our previous post.

The correct answer was 101kg.

Did you know that both David and Cordelia are Official Veterinarians (OVs).
This means they have undertaken additional training to allow them to complete Export Health Certificates and ensure the health and welfare of horses traveling from the UK.
To minimise the spread of any disease specific tests and checks are required before horses can enter or leave the country.

โผ๏ธ๐ด๐Equine Influenza Vaccination Regulations for competing in 2024๐ด
We know it can be confusing trying to ensure your horse's vaccinations fall in line with the competing guidelines, especially as these differ between the various organisations. So we have compiled a table of the most up to date information we could find.
BRC, PC, BD, BE, BS, Endurance GB and FEI have updated their rules for 2024. BHA appear to be continuing with their 2023 rules.
Primary courses and boosters given from 1st January 2024 onwards must adhere to any new rules. Vaccines given prior to this date are still compliant as long as they were in line with the previous rules at the time of vaccination. If the first vaccine was given in 2023, but the second vaccine will be given on or after 1st January 2024, either the previousrules or the updated rules can be followed for timing of the second vaccine, but we would advise checking with the appropriate organisation.
Please note, this table is considered accurate as of 18th January 2024. We are providing this as a guide, but we urge every competitor to check the relevant rules themselves and we cannot be held responsible for any errors made here, or for any changes which may be made after this post is published. It is the responsibility of the owner of the horse/rider to ensure their horse's vaccination timings fall in line with the rules. It is not the responsibility of the vet and we are not liable for any vaccination timing issues picked up at competitions.
๐ Please also note, vaccination reminders provided by veterinary practices are a courtesy and should not be solely relied upon.
For any further queries or to book in a vaccination with us, please contact reception on 01373 836186. ๐ฅ๐ด

๐ฅSarcoids - time to act now! ๐ฅ
We are holding a clinic for laser sarcoid removal on Tuesday 23rd January 2024.
Sarcoids are the most common skin tumour affecting horses and affected horses often develop multiple sarcoids at once or serially.
It is MUCH easier to treat sarcoids when they are small and first appear.
Different methods of treatment may be appropriate depending on the type of sarcoid and its location on the body.
One method of treatment is surgical removal using a laser. The laser generates an intense beam of light that can be used to cut, seal or vaporise tissue.
Some of the benefits of laser removal are:
- minimal bleeding
- reduced possibility of seeding tumour cells to different sites
Depending on location of the sarcoid they can either be removed under standing sedation or with a short general anaesthetic.
Please get in touch on 01373 836186 if you think your horse may have a sarcoid or you would like any further information.
Harriett ventured to London International Horse show last week, to attend a CPD event hosed by BEVA- The British Equine Veterinary Association. Unravelling unsoundness, with a multidisciplinary team. Physiotherapy is an important part of recovery for horses when diagnosed with a musculoskeletal condition, post surgery or as prevention from injury. Feel free to call 01373 836186 and chat to Harriett to discuss your horses physiotherapy needs ๐
