❗️Sad post ❗️😢

So yesterday was a sad day for our team and the owners. We lost a young patient to heatstroke. This patient had gone out for a little run round a field for less than 10 minutes in the early afternoon. The temperature yesterday was 26/27 degrees celcius and was very humid. Whilst these temperatures might not appear to pose as high as a risk to some, it was fatal for this patient.

There was 1 vet and 6 nurses who were with the patient for hours working past closing time and over their contracted hours, cooling the patients temperature, constantly checking vitals, administering medications, performing CPR and more. It was intense and sadly the patient did not recover.

This post is in no means to shame these owners, but to provide awareness to more owners of the dangers of heat stroke, no matter what age or what breed ALL dogs are at risk of heatstroke.
