Dirty Dogz is owned by me (Emily) when I left school I studied at Hartpury College and I have a distinction in animal management and C&G level 2 in animal care. I went on to do a dog grooming course in Shropshire and was very lucky to be offered a grooming assistant positi

on at the lady and the tramp grooming spa in Gloucester and eventually went on to become a trainee stylist. I left the lady and the tramp to start a family and so this is how Dirty Dogz came about. I work on a one to one basis from my converted garage salon and I pride myself on being a caring and passionate dog groomer. Every dog that walks or runs into my salon is treated as an individual and I will work with their needs and adjust my way of working to make their grooming experience an enjoyable one. I start with bathing your dog using good quality shampoo, a mini facial and conditioner is also applied. They also have a mini massage whilst in the bath to help relax and remove any loose hair. I will then dry your dog and remove any knots, tangles and any remaining loose hair. On your first appointment I would have spent time talking to you and asking lots of questions about your lifestyle and how you would like your dog groomed so I know exactly how to groom them. Whilst grooming I will undertake a thorough health check and will report any issues or problems back to you. I also clean and pluck ears if necessary, trim nails and of course every dog leaves with a spray of fragrance and a little bow. I also offer puppy pampers, baths between grooms, deshed treatments and nails. My aim is to make sure that every dog I groom walks into and out of my salon happy, confident and relax. All my customers and of course their dogs are welcome to come and have a look round and have a chat about your requirements. I can also be contacted by telephone, messenger or email.

I would just like to say a massive thank you to everybody for their understanding, patience and kind words while I took some time off due to a family bereavement.
I am now back at work and have contacted everyone to rearrange cancelled appointments.

Although I am still taking on new clients I am fully booked until the middle of September. So if you would like to book or even move an appointment please be aware I may not be able to get you in for several weeks.

Customer Notice 🌟

I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your continued support and the trust you have in me looking after your dogs. I am very proud of my little business, how much it has grown and improved over the past four years.

I am writing this notice to inform you of an upcoming change to my pricing. Beginning the 1st June 2024 I will be implementing a slight increase in my prices for full grooms and hand stripping this price increase will vary on different breeds but will be between £3-£5

I understand that any change in pricing can raise questions and I want to assure you that this decision was made after careful consideration.

The primary reasons for the adjustment in my prices is the increasing costs of utilities, products, equipment and maintenance. I would also like to develop my skills and knowledge further to provide you with the best service as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the price increase please do not hesitate to contact me. I am able to be contacted by phone, text message, messenger, email or whats app.

Once again thank you for your continued support and understanding during this time and I look forward to seeing all your lovely dogs very soon.

Who has a lot of extra tasty treats around the house this Easter weekend? 🙋🏼‍♀️

Just a little reminder to our clients and their families, to ensure ALL chocolate🍫, hot cross buns (with raisins in!) 🍇and sweeties 🍬are kept out of reach of your canine companions.

In some of our sweet Easter treats for humans lies an ingredient called Xylitol (this is sometimes also listed in the ingredients as ‘wood sugar’ or ‘birch sugar’). It is a common sugar substitute that in dogs can lead to hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) and even liver failure. Even small amounts can be fatal.

Symptoms of Xylitol poisoning can include:

🐾 Vomiting
🐾 Lethargy
🐾 Disorientation or collapse
🐾 Seizures and tremors
🐾 Unconsciousness

We’re always available in the event of an emergency this Easter. If you suspect your pet has eaten something they shouldn’t have, please do contact us.

This beautiful and handsome boy is Colin and he recently came in for his first ever puppy pamper.
We had a few hiccups as I would of expected but soon relaxed, enjoyed the pamper and all the cuddles.

EARLY AND LATE ARRIVALS & PICK UPS

Please please can you make sure you are on time for your appointments this also includes collection times.
I have to stick to a tight schedule everyday and if you are late dropping off or picking your dog up it has a huge effect on my day.
I appreciate things happen that are totally out of your control especially with the amount of road works going on around Dursley. But if you think you are going to be late please let me know it’s just good manners.
If you are more than 10mins late dropping your dog off without any notification to me I will cancel your appointment and you will still be required to pay the no show fee.

If you happen to be early arriving to collect your dog please ONLY ring the bell at your collection time. As most dogs react to the bell and it’s very difficult to finish your dog if it’s over excited. This is also a health and safety issue for your dog and myself.
If you are more than 10mins late collecting your dog without notification you will be charged an extra fee of £5.00.

Please make sure you understand the above and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

The first initial appointment is an hour long so can be added on to your dogs groom ( if there is enough time) or a separate appointment can be made.
After the initial appointment I will talk about whether further cleaning is required or if just a maintenance clean every 3 months is suitable.

New clients who do not come to me for grooming are also welcome but a free consultation is required to meet you and your dog before I agree to an initial consultation.

The Beginning

I have always loved animals especially dogs and as a child grew up competing in obedience and the show ring with my mums Sussex Spaniels. After finishing school I headed to Hartpury College to study Animal Care and went on to start a degree in Animal Science which unfortunately just wasnt for me. It was then that I decided to look into dog grooming as a career and found a four week course based in Shropshire once I had completed the course with a pass grading I set up in my mums garage practising on friends and families dogs.

Once I had moved into my own house I set up a small salon in a log cabin in my garden and feeling like I needed some more experience came across the lady and the tramp grooming salon and training school in Gloucester. Lets just say they were so impressed with my handling skills with one of my mums dogs I was offered a job as a grooming assistant and eventually trainee stylist and never looked back.

In 2016 I had ID twin boys which made it impossible for me to continue working at the lady and the tramp and I had to make the very difficult decision to give up my dream job. I worked there for over 5 years in total and loved every minute I am so grateful for everything they ever taught me and everyday I learnt something new.

But with my boys now going to playgroup I have the chance to set up on my own and am itching to get started and carry on enjoying a job I am very much passionate about.
