Adey’s Final Journey

What a fabulous send off you all gave to my Adey!
I feel so blessed to have so many fabulous, kind, caring friends, customers, and family surrounding me. I could not have imagined a better send off for my wonderful husband all be it a very difficult charged day of emotions.
From my lovely neighbours standing outside their homes seeing Adey off, to the many people with their dogs paying their last respects as we passed along the Bay. Then, arriving at the crematorium to find so many of you there waiting, was truly an amazing sight and very emotional!
Then the service, led by the lovely Dawn Traer – Funeral Celebrant who I thought came across in such a caring, compassionate manor. Then arriving at The Fighting C***s pub for Adey’s wake to find so many of you there, was just amazing.
I truly feel Adey had the most amazing send off, and it’s all down to you lot! Each and everyone of you “I wish to thank from the bottom of my heart”. It was all of you that made an incredibly sad day, seem a little brighter. My love goes out to you all! ❤️

A special thanks to Ruby funerals which treated me and ‘my Adey’ with such tenderness and kindness throughout.
I would also like to thank the team from Zodiac Florist in Whitworth Rd Gosport for such wonderful highly scented flowers, they were delightful.
Also my thanks to The Fighting C***s for hosting Adey’s wake and putting on such a lovely totally vegetarian spread, a spread Adey would be proud of!

Adey’s final Farewell
Adey’s funeral procession will be leaving Clayhall Road on Monday the 21st August at approximately 1:30pm we will be making our slow final journey along Stokes Bay Road.
If there is anyone who can’t make Adey’s cremation and celebration of life service tomorrow, and would still like to show their respects it would be lovely to see you and your dogs as we pass by along the bay.
I would also like to thank you all for the Kindness, Sympathy cards, and offers of help and support so many of you have given. ❤️🌈❤️

Adey’s Cremation and Celebration of his Life.

As many of you know, my husband, Adey Walls, sadly died at home in the early hours of Monday the 24/07/23.
His cremation and celebration of his life will take place at:
Portchester Crematorium
On Monday 21/08/23 at 2:30pm in the South chapel.

It would fill my heart with pride to have many of you, our customers, our friends, along side both our family’s to fill the chapel to give ‘my man’ a right fitting send off he deserves. Adey wouldn’t want any dress code, come in whatever you’re comfortable wearing, it really doesn’t matter!
Family flowers only but if you wish to make a donation to Dogs Trust, Salisbury in Adey’s memory, you can click the attached link: https://adrianwalls.muchloved.com/
Following the cremation and celebration of Adey’s life, a more intimate wake will take place at our local pub:
The Fighting C***s
78 Clayhall Road
Alverstoke
Gosport
PO12 2AJ

I’ve no idea on how many people would like to come, but it would be nice to fill the pub to raise a glass to celebrate Adey’s life as he would have liked!
Thank you for your kindness!❤️

We did it! We got MARRIED!!
I can officially say “My HUSBAND and I” These last few days have been a hell of a rollercoaster ride of emotions! My biggest lesson from all of this is I will never ever put something off until tomorrow - life is way to short and you never know what is coming round the next corner. I am so blessed to be married to the love of my life, it may not be for long but I’m so so thankful we had time to do it! ❤️

My amazing man, after having gone through one failed operation then put on a ventilator. This afternoon was very carefully taken of the ventilator and taken down for a second operation which was such a high risk but he PULLED THROUGH IT! He is seriously Ill, but it has managed to give us a little more time together!
And get this! We’re even planning a very quick very quiet wedding!!
How about that!!!

Our nightmare continues...

Adey was at QA for a CT scan on Wednesday.

We were back again Thursday for an appointment with a respiratory specialist.

And then back again Friday for Adey's bronchoscopy.

It didn't happen. The consultant thought it far too dangerous to do as the CT scan showed his windpipe was only the width of a drinking straw. It's no wonder he's only been able to swallow liquids.

They're not taking the risk to let him go home so have been kept in QA and awaiting transfer to Southampton where a safer procedure can hopefully be done. Thankfully there is a bed available.

Vince is worried sick and, other than going to Chichester to break the awful news to my poor Mum, has been with Adey just about all day.

STAFF ILLNESS

We are sorry so many of you have been kept waiting for such a long time for a reply to your enquiries.

Adey, who usually deals with all of the business administration, has been seriously ill since recovering from Covid back in March. He has an ongoing infection, rasping cough, little or no energy, no voice, struggles for breath, lost a lot of weight, and unable to do practically anything.

Vince, when not caring for Adey, has been doing his best to keep the business ticking over but has been unable to deal with the growing backlog of enquiries.

Calls and messages to our landline (023 9252 8166) are still being regularly logged and notes from messages taken.

Please make ALL enquiries to our landline 023 9252 8166 and leave a short message, including:

• Your name,
• Your contact telephone number,
• Your house number and postcode,
• Your dog's age and breed,
• A brief outline of your training needs.

We will endeavour to get back to you as soon as we can.

Thank you for your ongoing patience.

Hi Debs,
Thanks for the opportunity of hosting another great Clicker Concepts evening of learning. It was great meeting more of your team and their fabulous dogs and even a ferret. I’m pleased your colleagues all found it fun and informative. I love sharing knowledge and look forward to any future events.

One of the many things we are proud of is our industry-leading colleague training. Our long-standing relationship with Canine Communications is an example of our investment in building knowledge.

Vince from Canine Communications runs our unique clicker concepts training evenings. Our colleagues enjoy listening to Vince and sharing stories, and the best bit is they have the opportunity to see their pets learning using the power of clicker training. There were plenty of proud parent moments 🥰

What this means for customers is that our colleagues develop a basic understanding of the purpose of clickers, target sticks and platforms. Customers can appreciate just how much can be taught without coercion.

Thank you, Vince, for your time, energy, and all the individual attention you give to the animals who come through your doors.

Some interesting reading on Familiarisation not Socialisation.

BE A PARENT NOT A PIMP
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~~ ~
Most of us want to take our pup out-and-about with us; from the countryside walks to brunch at the local café or pub. We will plan to go on holiday, stay in hotels or visit friends, perhaps go to classes, a dog show or the local garden fête.

To ensure these outings are as pleasant an experience for your dog as they are for you we need to begin to familiarise the youngster with these anticipated but unnatural environments.

A familiarisation protocol should ensure that a puppy has the time to assess, observe, and become familiar with, the weird and wonderful life that will be their future. If you rush this and the pup becomes fearful of people at the cafe, then this shared outing may never be on your dream list.

Do not rely on putting it right or fixing this associated anxiety at a later date. “Become familiar with” should never involve anxiety, it should always be gradual, never extreme and the pup should always have the right to say “no thanks”.

Today we lose a star, a little man that I’ve had the pleasure of training for nearly all of his 13 years. He may have been small in stature, but had a huge personality. He achieved so much over the years in our Tricks 4 Fun classes from riding a skateboard, playing Basketball, stacking cups and even using a peddle bin and playing Connect Four! You certainly kept me on my toes dreaming up new tricks for you to master! You didn’t stop there you also shone in Agility and Treiball so many wonderful memories!
Thank you Jan Ann, (Marleys mum) for bringing him to classes week after week, year after year, you should feel a very proud doggie parent.
I will miss you deeply, little Marley 🐾💔🐾 Shine bright tonight and forever 🐾

AN APOLOGY

We are sorry for delays in responding to enquiries.

After illness, injury and 24-hour nursing care to our old girl Mona, we have both again fallen ill, with this time testing positive for Covid!

Unfortunately, we shall both be out-of-action for the foreseeable future.

Please bear with us. Getting back on track and up-to-date with things could take a while.
