Let’s talk about nails!
We always get asked to cut nails as short as possible, and sometimes we can’t get them as short as you may want them - here’s why:
Each dog's nail has a blood vessel running through it, some dogs have long ones and some have short ones, this is called the quick.
We can only trim to that quick, trimming any further past this causes pain, discomfort and bleeding!
We can however retract the quick with very regular nail trims, to do this we recommend trimming every 2 weeks.

Long nails can cause all sorts of damage not only by growing into pads but also on joints, dogs with long nails may alter their walk for comfort - putting strain on joints.

To maintain healthy short nails we ALWAYS recommend trimming every month, this not only keeps the nails at a short length but also ensures your dog can walk correctly.

As groomers we get asked a lot about a**l glands! So here's our view….
We don't do them, and we always refer to the vet as this is an internal problem that we don't complete. If a**l glands are expressed wrong they can cause a lot of problems for your dog, so it is best to get a vet to do this. Great things to help your pet with a**l glands are raw carrots and some bran flakes, this can help with expressing them themselves however if there are still issues then definitely seek vet help.

Common signs for a**l gland issues are:
- Bum scooting
- A fishy smell
- Biting or chewing around their bum area
