Hello everyone

Due to more hot weather expected this weekend we are putting our hot weather plan into action.

Saturday: ALL morning classes will be as normal.

Sunday: Open classes at 9am, 10am & 11am

Everyone is welcome and there will be both puppy and adult classes running these times.

All classes after shall be cancelled.

No agility classes will be running.

If you usually attend a Monday class it is likely they will be also be cancelled so you are welcome to join a class this weekend if you wish (please be aware these are held at a different venue).

Saxon had another session as he reacts to buses, vans and motorbikes. This is a common instinctive behaviour we see with our hearding breeds.

The transformation in this boy since we last saw him is brilliant! I’d love to take the credit 🤣 however this is solely down to hard work, commitment and perseverance by his owners! Well done 👏

Our Goldie’s of the week!

Had the pleasure of working with these Golden Retrievers throughout this week.

I grew up with this breed and although they are usually immature idiots in their early months (or years!!!) they generally make brilliant family dogs.

What a cracking breed!

Really proud with the progress of Beligain Malinois Duke.

When this boy first started with us at 12 weeks, he was very timid and reactive to both people and other dogs.

His owners have attended our puppy classes, general classes and have just completed our loose lead workshop.

He has gone from strength to strength and is now a confident, level headed reliable dog. This has been purely down to hard work and commitment from his owners!

Well done all! What a turnaround 👏

This afternoon I had the pleasure of starting to work with this beautiful little Cavalier Annie.

She was kept for the first five years of her life in a shed, totally neglected and used as a breeding machine.

She was rescued, spayed, had 10 teeth removed and has been homed with a lovely couple who are getting weight on her and into much better condition.

This poor little lady has no idea of how to cope in the real world, live in a house and how to be a normal dog!

A few issues for us to work through but it’s so nice to see she has got a loving new family!

Massive thank you to Max, Barney and their humans who gave up their time to act as distraction dogs in one of our reactive workshop sessions. Both these boys are really reliable (and brave 🤣) and helped the other dogs!

Reactive workshop

Week 4 of this reactive workshop. No way could these dogs have been so close to each other when they first started! Their owners are working so hard and are even meeting up out of class to work them together! Still loads of work ahead but these boys are coming on great 👏

I love regular updates on the dogs I’m working with…. Duke has started loose lead training with us. Fixing this problem using our methods - no choke chains, no harness, no over treating - just a normal lead and collar, correct handling and well timed praise! …… ‘I know we are only 2 days in but the difference with Duke and his loose lead walking is amazing We obviously don’t walk far at all 😂 but he’s really starting to get the hang of it. Can’t wait to see him progress even more as the weeks go on. Have a great weekend Mark, so glad we booked onto this course’ - Annie

Buddy

This is 18 month Cockerpoo Buddy. Buddy gets frustrated when he spots any other dog as he wants to go and play. The first part of this video is when I first met him and how he would behave when he saw another dog. The second part is him at the end of his first session. Just had an update from his owner and although he still needs some work all is going great. 👏

Well done to all the handlers on tonight’s social walk! There were some dogs in this group that would have never been able to cope in this situation before and nobody put a foot wrong! Brilliant handling by all of you and the dogs were awesome dogs! Well done 👏 I hope you are all proud of your individual achievements! Next walk: Thursday 30th May 7pm!

Well done Buddy

This is the first time we have done this exercise in class. Recalled into a distance sit stay, I then had two of my unpaid volunteers (2 of my little people 😉) run around and kick a ball about to create a distraction. Completed by a second recall. This exercise was great for practicing control and patience when there are exciting and tempting distractions! Well done Buddy & and good job to Jacob & Rose too

Social Walk

Well done to everyone on the social walk this evening. It started on the lively side but they all soon settled really well. Two things really stood out. Firstly how good were the dogs! I know some of them really struggle around others but was awesome to see them walking well in the middle of it all! Secondly everyone was so friendly. It’s great to see handlers mixing, chatting about their dogs while getting them together. All that said I am now laying in a silent darkened room! Sorry I didn’t get around to talk to everyone, well done and thank you all! There will be more coming soon!
