It’s been a quite 3 weeks for Vic after his kick.

We’ve had X-rays and scans and are waiting on another scan tomorrow to hopefully 🤞 be let back out in a small paddock after 2 weeks of box rest.

First time in the saddle pad 🥰 and he was awesome.

We might have to ignore the poles for the time being but he was forward and willing and that’s all that can be asked for his first competition 🦄

Highs and lows of horses 😞

After a fantastic jump lesson unfortunately Vic got a kick in the field last Thursday and has been lame ever since. After a visit and a couple or stitches, poor Fi from was subjected to twice daily videos (thank goodness she was on call all weekend 🙈) of our soundness and on Monday it was decided we needed to X-ray due to him not improving as we liked.
Today we headed to the surgery for his shoulder X-rays and it wasn’t good news but he should be ok 🤞 He’s got two very small bone chips under the wound so two weeks of strict box rest and re assess.
Big thank you also to for a very last minute message for some straw so Vic can be as comfy as possible on box rest ☺️

At this rate Cabby will be joining Bee at the champs in August 🤣

A much needed lesson today with 🦄

Vic was fab with me working on my position even when we see long ones - sorry Vic, you might need a dentist 🤣

Bee was on fine form and was jumping for fun 🤩

Cabby was a star, jumped everything including the water tray and full fillers and is learning all the time with so much to like about his attitude 🥰

Forever grateful for whatever reasons these boys have found us for their lives after racing

Not the best day with Vic at the Arena Eventing champs but onwards we go back to some showjumping 🎉

The last picture is 8 years ago today when Vic had retired from racing and came home for good, I’m always so grateful to have bought him even with his antics 🥰

I had a lovely day though with Co pilot and my awesome team mates and met some lovely people when volunteering.

The boys are back in town….

And before you ask they are in age order as I, of course, don’t have favourites 🤣

Song AKA The Old Man. At 26 we’ve been around the block together in our 20 years together 🙈 You name it we’ve tried it over the years, I’m his prime he evented to Intermediate and still love bombing around at 80cm every summer 🥰 Even if this summer we got a few naught speeding points 🤣

Beams AKA The Diva. Now 22, I’ve known him for 18 years and some could say the dressage live choose him after some failed attempts at Eventing 🙈 He’s competes up to Advanced Medium but after an accident at the end of 2022 I think we will aim for Elementary and have also taken up TREC the summer.

Vic AKA Ginge. At 19 you could call him the baby of the group 🤣 Vic has ticked many bucket list items off including Open team chasing and getting back up to 110cm showjumping. He loves his XC and showjumping and we aim to have many more years of fun showjumping.

I’m Beth and I’ve been horse obsessed since I can remember 🙈

The first picture is my first “solo” ride at about 4 and I’ve been hooked since 🤣

I started working in racing at 16 part time and then 18 full time and that’s where my love affair with a thoroughbred came from 🥰

I love showing you all how diverse an ex racer can be and hope you enjoy following my boys in 2024 🦄

At the end of last year I had aspirations of jumping a 120 class on Vic but as this year has gone on me out little crash in March I’ve realised that we both really like competing at 100 so that’s where we will stay now 🥰

Vics not getting any younger and it’s been wonderful to get back to jumping 110 but something you have to listen to them and if it means we can keep going for a few more years I’ll take that 🤞

Another weekend and another sash 🙈 This time is was thanks to my awesome team makes as apparently we’re not that stylish 🤣 but good enough for individual 7th!

One down in each of the rounds but more importantly a happy horse who enjoyed his day out to help the team to 6th 🎉

Vic wasn’t meant to be jumping this weekend but Bee has trodden on one too many stones so just 🤞 he makes Aintree 😳

Unfortunately Songs foot just hasn’t come right in time so I’m looking for the impossible- a replacement horse for the RC HT champs, this weekend, 5/6 August.

It’s the 80cm 2 day event. Dressage and SJ ok Saturday and Road and tracks and XC on Sunday.

Everything is paid for and can take on my lorry.

Prefer local as would be nice to at least have a sit on this week if possible.

🥰 He’s pretty cool to save my arse most of the time 🦄 The other times he’s putting me on it 🤣

A very luck clear in the 1st round of the 100 and a pole on the second round last week and Team 6th was followed by a very Vic style deposit after a quick exit after fence 4 in the 1st round of the 110 🙈

Onwards and upwards 😬

A rather belated update from our last competition 🙈

We headed to Aston le Walls for the BRC arena Eventing champs at 100cm

Vic was an absolute superstar to jump a double clear 🤩

His SJ is so consistent now but he’s still very green XC on his own! The last time we were here we got to fence 3 so I’m super pleased to have just got round 🥰

We managed 3 clears as a team and came 9th 🎉🎉

Roll on the showjumping champs now in April 🤞🤞

And if December couldn’t get any worse we took Beams to the wonderful Three Counties Equine Hospital just before Christmas to get his diagnosis.

Unfortunately it’s not good news in the short term.

He’s broken 9 spinal processes in his withers from T1-T9 😭😳 No wonder the poor boy couldn’t put his head down!

He’s now 3 weeks in to box rest with a reassessment in 2 weeks. Then 🤞 for small paddock turnout for another 3 months and then in hand work until we, all being well get back on in July.

He’s totally changed shape so my saddle is up for sale of anyones interested 🙈 suits a shark fin withered TB with a good shoulder!

When the X-rays were taken the long term prognosis was good with the hope that he will come back in to ridden work. We will just have to see how his boys copes with the moves as to what we do 👍
