We are on the lookout for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team due to our nurse
going on maternity leave.
We are a 7-vet independent mixed practice in rural Cumbria – Kirkby Stephen.
The role will be full time (36 hours over 4 days) with no OOH or weekends. The job will involve small
animal consults, inpatient care and anaesthesia – working as our only nurse. For this
reason, it would suit someone with at least a couple of years of experience.
CPD funded, Royal College fees paid, staff discount for own pets and uniform supplied.
The role starts October 2024.
Please send a CV and covering letter to [email protected], or give us a call on 017683 71359 to discuss the role.

We have been very busy this month taking part in The May 50K! We have been taking on 50km throughout May and leaving our limits behind to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis and better access to treatments. Various members of the team have been running or walking the 50km in May with some reaching even bigger distances!

There are over 130,000 people in the UK living with MS. We support this work in the UK and around the World because The May 50K supports the MS Society UK and the MS International Federation.

Within the team we have some close family members affected by MS so this is a very emotive mission for us!

Please feel free to make a donation towards our fundraiser today and support our team challenge. Thank you for your support!

With this lovely warm weather, we are seeing nematodirus eggs in lamb muck samples that farmers are bringing in 🪱

Nematodirus is a worm that is passed from last years lambs to this years lambs on pasture after warmer spells of weather and causes dark scour with some sudden deaths in lambs. White wormer is the best drench to use to combat these worms!

We can predict the likelihood of hatches by following the SCOPS nematodirus forecast using the link https://www.scops.org.uk/forecasts/nematodirus-forecast/

Below is a picture of a nematodirus worm egg that our vets have spotted ⬇️

We always love supporting our farmers in every way that we can, so we are very proud to support Brough Castle in the opening of their new dairy vending machines!
Such a great idea and a way to buy local produce from local farmers!
🐄 We hope to see you all there! 🥛

We're looking for another vet to grow our team to seven!
We're in the process of interviewing new graduates for this position - don't miss out if you are interested.
Mixed Veterinary Surgeon, Cumbria

Due to an ever increasing clientele and caseload, we are looking for an enthusiastic vet to join our six vet team at our independent, truly mixed practice. Pendragon Vets is in Kirkby Stephen, a small market town in the Eden Valley, midway between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. We have thriving companion animal clinics, both progressive and traditional beef and dairy work, and plenty of sheep work including a number of pedigree flocks. There is also some first opinion equine work. With such variety, there is room to pursue individual areas of interest.
The out of hours rota is shared equally, one night a week, and two weekends in six. Our normal working week is three and a half days, allowing plenty of time for an active life outside of work.
RCVS, VDS and BVA subscriptions paid. CPD funded and encouraged.
Vehicle available if necessary. Salary dependent upon experience.
Our current vet team has over 70 years of experience between them, with a wealth of different skills and knowledge, and there is plenty of opportunity for case discussion and collaboration.
Please get in touch with us for further details - phone us on 017683 71359 or email us - [email protected]
For applications, please email a CV and covering letter.
