🎉🏔️ THEY DID IT! Despite the pouring rain, some of our amazing team conquered Ben Nevis this weekend!

With hiking boots, blister plasters, and waterproofs on, they summited the UK’s highest mountain to raise money for The Canmore Trust, a cause that's incredibly close to our hearts.

The Canmore Trust was founded in memory of our dear friend and colleague Cameron Gibson, and works tirelessly to prevent su***de and support those affected by it, striving to create a safer world for everyone.

We're excited to announce the addition of a brand-new compost bin at our Lanark practice! This is another step forward on our sustainability journey, following our recent achievement of silver accreditation with Investors in the Environment (iiE).

Our Sustainability Committee is committed to reducing our environmental impact, and this compost bin will help us responsibly dispose of food waste, turning it into valuable compost instead of sending it to landfill.

Rabbits need more than a small hutch to thrive🐇 Confining them to tight spaces is cruel and harmful. Here’s why:

🐰 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Rabbits need space to run, jump, stretch, dig, and forage, as well as a bonded mate for companionship.

🐰 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲: Small hutches offer little protection from the elements, leaving rabbits vulnerable.

🐰 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗨𝗽: Rabbits must be able to stand on their hind legs without touching the roof to avoid spinal issues.

🐰 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗺 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝘇𝗲: At least 3m x 2m x 1m high—bigger is always better!

𝗨𝗻𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆: 𝗗𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝟭𝟰𝗰𝗺 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹

Meet Dexter, the brave 3-year-old Domestic Shorthair! He was brought in due to coughing and gagging and after a thorough examination, our team discovered a 14cm grass blade lodged in his throat.

Under sedation, the grass blade was carefully removed using forceps. We're happy to report that Dexter has recovered well and is back to his playful self!

This incident highlights the importance of monitoring your pets' behavior and contacting us when something seems off. Foreign objects can cause significant discomfort and health issues, but timely intervention can make all the difference.

Meet Winston! This handsome fellow is our RVN Lynn’s gorgeous dog and a true hero. As a blood donor, Winston has saved more dogs' eyeballs than we can count!

Blood donations from dogs are essential for transfusions for seriously ill pets and critical for use in ophthalmology - the treatment of eye disorders and diseases. When a dog donates blood, the blood is spun down to extract the serum, which can be used to treat serious eye ulcers. Corneal ulcers are very common in cats and dogs, and serum eye drops are an essential part of the treatment given to them.

Demand is growing, so more doggy donors are always needed to help. If you have a large, happy, healthy, and confident dog, they could be a lifesaver and help other dogs in need.
