Saturday 9th November Report

🐷 172 Store & Breeding Pigs 🐷

The biggest entry seen for a year or two !! Vendors from as far north as Preston and as far south as Cornwall travelled to Leek today, to meet a packed ringside of buyers. A big thanks to vendors and buyers for your continued support. A solid trade was seen for all types today, keep the pigs coming.

Breeding pigs (17)
A tremendous show of breeding pigs and buyers out in force to secure breeding stock. Top call £400 for a pietrain breeding boar from R Smith, Launceston, who had gilts to £280 twice.

Sid Bowers saw £320 for a lovely in-pig Saddleback Gilt, with the Chadwick Family, Waterhouses not far behind at £250 for an in-pig Gloucester Old Spot.

Becky Palfryman, Leek saw £240 for her Welsh boar and Tom Dyas, Doncaster saw £300 for his young pietrain x large white boar.

C Wardle, Sandbach sold a saddleback gilt with 7 at foot to £320

Stores (49) av £68.85
Generally smaller stores with best white stores a flying trade topping at £115 for Wendy Stamper, Preston who had others to £102, £96, £84, £70, £62. R Hughes, Ilkeston sold to £74, £68, £58 & £56.

Weaners (106) av £45.10
A bumper show of weaners with all types and breeds present, really something for everyone. Top price £68 from PJ Barker, Charnwood. Not far behind at £60 & £58 for JLR Ball, Sandbach, C Wardle, Sandbach saw £50 for 13kg pigs. R Smith, Launceston saw £50 and Alan Worth to £50. 15kg Large Blacks to £30 for MG & VE Hudson.

🐐Goats (20) 🐐
A smaller entry than normal sold to a flying trade topping at £310 for a Boer Billy from J Mansfield who had wethers to £105. J Armitage had a boer billy to £125. And J&J Housley to £128 for a white billy.

Valais nose x ewes sold to £120 for P Webster, with badger faces to £78.
