Well what an amazing summer we have all had. Thank you to everyone for once again supporting us through the busiest time of the year and making our job worth while. DRESSAGE DAY
so we had our mini dressage day last week and the girls did a fab job of making Bracken, Surprise and Tallulah look very smart. Unfortunately Tallulah had other ideas when it came to actually doing a test so Surprise had to go twice. Well done to the three who gave it a go you all rode amazingly.

The results are as follows:-

2nd Laila and Surprise - 136/200
3rd Emily and Surprise/Tallulah 97/200

Hi all, lots of you keep asking and messaging to see how I am so thought I’d do a quick update. Myself and Baby Bug are doing well, he/she is happy and healthy and certainly growing. I seemed to have popped all of a sudden and have a proper bump appear. We are now 28+2 and on the final stretch to baby arriving for Halloween 🎃 👻. Lots of you are asking if I’m still riding and I’d like to say yes I am but not sure you can call it proper riding. I’m still riding my beautiful boy Paynter who has been an absolute saint but we just plod about for all of 40 mins once a week, not sure I’ll be doing it much longer though as not fair on him to carry my extra weight. I’m still planning to teach as much as I can from now until the end of September but we will see how things go as I get even bigger. The long days are already a killer and my staff have been amazing doing as much for me as they can. Will keep you all updated with our progress and let you know when things will be changing in the future. 😊

***RIP ABBY***
Today we have unfortunately had to say goodbye to the beautiful Abby. she has been an asset to have on the yard and we are forever grateful to her owners Samantha Pennell Shapcott for allowing us to look after such a lovely mare and treat her like our own. She has been so well loved and will be very missed but today she decided her age had caught up with her so the kindest thing for us to do was to say goodbye. RIP you beautiful old girl.

Arena Eventing - Open to all - Thursday 1st August - 1pm start times will be allocated before hand - groom and tack up before hand then compete by riding a course of XC and SJ fences in the arena - Maximum of two rounds per person - £18pp, £25 for two rounds. Body protectors are advised for this event.

***WINTER LOANS***
I’m am now starting to think ahead to winter as the year is just flying by, if you are interested in doing a 1 or 2 day per week loan please do get in touch and let me know which horse or pony you are interested in. There will only be a select few available and these are the ones owned by the riding school only. You must be confident and capable to bring in, tack up and ride by yourself as they will be your sole responsibility on your loan days. Escorted treks can be organised at a discount price. Please do message and we can send you information at a later date.

Wednesday 26th June
Well seems summer has arrived today, we are keeping a close eye on the horses and making a decision on lessons as we go. It is currently feeling like 26 degrees here and even hotter in the school as there is no breeze, horse welfare is out top priority and if we feel it is not safe for them or you to go ahead we will be in touch asap.

We’d like to welcome the lovely Tina to our teaching team, she will be with us a couple of days a week and just doing lessons in the arena. Claire is still teaching as well and hoping to keep going until the end of September, and the amazing Emma and Faith with the help of Ry (on really busy days) will be taking out treks as and when as well. With Tina on the team this does mean we will be open two days a week throughout winter for lessons these will be primarily group lesson so we can fit you all in, we will also be open two days a week for treks so you will all hopefully be able to stay in the saddle throughout the winter months while Claire is on maternity leave. We also have a couple of new horses and ponies who have joined the team so please keep your eyes open for these as well. Here’s to a great summer ahead.

It is very warm today so please make sure you have sun cream in and bring a drink with you, the horse flies are also out in force. We are going ahead but doing a mixture of lessons and rides in the moors depending on where the breeze is so please be prepared for this. Horse welfare comes first and we are trying to keep them as cool as possible. Enjoy the sun everyone.

***Claire Holiday and Cherry Covering***

Just to let you know Claire will be away from 27th June- 5th July. We are still yet to find an instructor so this means a few things will have to change for that week. We do have the lovely Cherry who has offered to come and teach on Tuesday 2nd and Friday 5th so if you would like to move your lesson to one of these days with her then please let me know. Spaces will fill up fast so make sure you message sooner rather than later. We also have the lovely Ry, Faith and Emma taking trek out over that week so everyone should get their riding slots in and then back to normal from Saturday 6th.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of you for being so understanding and accommodating with moving your lessons around, we are still on the hunt for another instructor but for now we will keep marching on as we have been.

***FOR LOAN / SALE TO RIGHT PERSON***
Due to pregnancy I have to be sensible and either find someone to loan or possibly buy the beautiful Noah.

He is a just turn 6yr old TB, 15.1hh, although he is young don’t let this put you off. He is an amazing boy with lovely movements but I just won’t have the time to bring him on and really don’t want him to get wasted. He needs a confident rider to bring out his full potential as he is still green, did have a sticky stifle over winter but with lunge work and muscle build up this has sorted itself out. We have been riding him in walk and trot only in the school and on the moor whilst he builds his canter work on the lunge as does get his legs in a middle due to being unbalanced. In the right hands this little horse will go far. If he is to go on loan he is to stay at my yard in Pensilva where he is settled if your interested please do get in touch.

What an amazing half term and some cracking weather as well. Well done everyone I think it’s safe to say all the horses and ponies enjoyed a well earned week out of the school and yoh all rode fantastically on the moor as well. We will be doing lots more moorland rides throughout the summer as does you all good to ride in different surroundings. Here’s to a nice dry summer and some amazing rides ahead.

***CHANGES***
So as most of you know there have been a few changes in the last month but we do have some more coming our way as well. I’m very excited to let you all know that we are expecting a yard baby at the end of October. Claire and Matt are both very excited to welcome their little bundle into the world but as you know this also means changes to the yard.

We are still working out a plan as can’t find another reliable instructor to take over the work so at the moment Claire is trying to sort out group lessons and looking to close on a Monday and Tuesday. Obviously as she gets bigger things will get harder so come October depending on staffing we may look at doing winter loans and hacking only and restart lessons again in March/April time.

Please bare with us while we try to work everything out as this is not an easy task in itself.

**CHANGES AFTER HALF TERM***
Just a reminder half term will be treks only this coming week. We have also be put in a position where we are short staffed once again so things will be changing slightly after the 1st June to allow everyone to be able to ride still. With only Claire teaching this will mean a lot more group lessons to reduce hours and fit everyone in. What a fun day in the sun, our rosette club had a great time learning how to ride through the pond. Unfortunately Amy and myself did get wet to our thighs having to rescue a couple when the ponies thought it would be fun to try and roll. Wet wellies for a week now at least 🤣 but great fun had by all.

***May half term 25th-1st June***
We will be closed Sunday 2nd June.

I know you have all been waiting for our half term dates and we have been thinking hard about what to do. As we have had such a wet winter we have decided this half term all sessions will go out onto the moor now that the weather is being kinder to us. This is so all our amazing horses and ponies can have a break from the arena and for our customers to enjoy what we have right on our doorstep. If you are happy to go in a group this means we can exten your sessions slightly aswell so please do let us know.

Also if you are planning to go away and have a set lesson with us please do let us know so we can cancel it for that week.

***PRICE CHANGES, SATURDAY CLUB & SUNDAY ROSETTE CLUB*** please see bottom of post for dates, times and price changes.

As you all know we try to keep our prices as low as possible for you all and we were hoping to hold off for a bit longer but it’s just not possible any more and due to the increase in cost of shoes, feed, bedding ect we are going to have to put our prices up slightly again. This will come into action from Thursday 1st February.

In the near future Saturday club will be changing, we would like the kids to become more involved and work their way to earning achievement awards and rosettes. As you all know Saturdays are crazy for us so from the 3rd February we will only be running the 9am-12pm session for our Saturday club, this will be £28pp and will include a ride on the moors, but we will run this every Saturday.
Our Sunday Rosette club will start on the 4th February, this will run from 10am-2.30pm and have set stable management sessions and a 45 min riding lesson working towards specific achievements as they go. Each child will have a booklet to complete towards the rosettes and certificates, this session will run every Sunday apart from the last Sunday of the month and will be £42pp. Booking is essential for both Saturday and Sunday.

Happy new year to all our amazing customers and friends. We haven’t started the new year how we would have liked, the storms are causing havoc here with things being blown around and fences coming down. But like always we are soldiering on. Looking forward to see you all very soon.
