Post on behalf of Elizabeth Donaghy
Cat Missing since Friday 🐈‍⬛

This is Bear he’s a male, neutered, microchipped and 9 year old cat.

He lives on Stanage Road and also likes to have a wonder in the fields at the top. May we ask if people could check their garages and sheds as he has previous bad behaviour for getting locked in, he also got locked in someone’s house, on the field at the top of Stanage Road, while they went on holiday a few years ago

He’s very timid but, may approach for dreamies

Yorkshire 3 Peaks, Team Chine House Challenge.
We would like to thank all family, friends, colleagues and clients who supported the team with their challenge in June.

The 32 strong team walked the Yorkshire 3 Peaks covering 38.6km in under 12 hours and we have absolutely smashed our targets and raised a fantastic £13,689!!!! This amount was from donations, gift aid, fund raising here at the Practice and a very kind donation from VetPartners.

This money has been raised for 2 charities, StreetVet where volunteer vets and nurses support those pets who's owners have lost their homes, and The Matt Hampson Foundation who inspire and support people seriously injured through sport.

Once again a massive thank you to everyone and here's a photo of one our walkers Millo enjoying a well earned rest at the Taj Mahal (but still wearing her Chine T-Shirt)

We couldn’t let May come to an end without recognising Vet Nurse Awareness month. Here at Chine House our nurses and auxiliaries are at the very heart of our hospital.
From caring for our inpatients, running nurse clinics, maintaining surgical kits and equipment, cleaning and prepping all the theatres, Dispensing medications, taking x-rays, placing IV cannulas and blood sampling to bring the reassuring voice on the end of the phone in an emergency, our nurses do it all.
You may not know that it takes 3 years to obtain the qualification of Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) and it doesn’t stop there, many of our nurses have extra qualifications too!
We are so proud of our team of fabulous nurses and grateful for their hard work each and every day (and night!)

Team Chine Challenge - ONLY 3 WEEKS TO GO!
Following the tremendous success of our National 3 Peaks Challenge in 2019 where we raised in excess of £7000 for charities, Team Chine's next challenge is the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in June this year.

32 of us will be attempting the walk, a total of 38.6km within 12 hours. Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m).

Our chosen charities we are supporting for this challenge are:

StreetVet:
Victims of the UK homelessness epidemic often have scant support, except for, in a growing number of cases, the companionship of their pets.

Many have had their pets since before losing their homes, which makes their bond even more profound, such that their pet's well-being is a life-shaping priority.

Their volunteer vets and vet nurses provide accessible fundamental veterinary care. They vaccinate, microchip, treat for fleas and worms, prescribe pain relief, help fight infections, perform surgeries and sometimes just sit and listen.

Matt Hampson Foundation:
The Matt Hampson Foundation inspires and supports young people seriously injured through sport through its unique Get Busy Living centre in rural Leicestershire. The centre provides expert physiotherapy, specialist personal training, support, mentoring and advice to people suffering a life-changing injury.

The centre’s doors were opened in 2018 by Founder and ex-England and Leicester Tigers rugby player Matt Hampson, who himself experienced a life-changing injury in 2005.

It would be amazing if you could support us with our target of £3000. You can donate via our Just Giving page:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING FLEA AND WORM MEDICATIONS

From January 2024 the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) have introduced new rules on the prescribing of prescription flea and worm medication.

As a result, we have had to make some changes to the way in which we provide your pet’s prescription medication.

When your pet’s next flea and worm medication is required, we are asking that you ring ahead of time, or use the online order form via our website (https://chinehousevets.co.uk/repeat-prescriptions/). This will allow us to advise you on what, if any, steps need to be taken before you come to collect this medication. On some occasions our vet’s may need to examine your pet before we are able to dispense further medication.

More information on these changes can be found on the official RCVS website.

Thank you for continued support and understanding.

Due to flooding in Sileby and surrounding areas we are closing the hospital to routine appointments we will see EMERGENCIES ONLY
