Arthritis isn’t just an old dog problem. Just like people, dogs can develop joint pain at any age.
Younger dogs may be at risk due to:
✅ Being overweight
✅ Hip or elbow dysplasia
✅ Injuries like fractures or cruciate ligament tears
✅ High-impact activities (e.g. flyball, agility)
✅ Breed type - especially large or giant breeds
To help you spot the signs early, we recommend the Dog Mobility App (DogMA) - a free, easy to use, scientifically validated tool from the University of Liverpool that helps you assess your dog’s mobility at home. 📲 Download DogMA today: bit.ly/4niMi9G Join the pack - because

November is Pet Cancer Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on one of the leading health concerns affecting our beloved pets.
With one in four dogs and one in five cats developing cancer during their lifetime, early detection is key. Keep an eye out for signs such as unexplained lumps, weight loss, changes in appetite, or unusual behaviour. If you notice anything concerning, don’t wait: book a check-up with your vet. A timely visit could make all the difference in ensuring your pet gets the care they need.

Today is World Diabetes Day. Just like us, our furry friends can develop
diabetes - and the sooner it’s spotted, the better it can be managed.
Common signs of diabetes in pets include:
💧 Increased thirst
💛 Increased urination
⚖️ Weight loss
🐾 Appetite changes
If you’ve noticed any of these changes in your pet, it’s always worth getting
them checked for peace of mind.

Four lovely puppies have completed a 3 week Scallywagg course with Nurse Jenny.
Along with the usual de-sensitisation, the classes were focused on bonfire night and Halloween.
Exposing your puppies to quiet firework sounds allows them to become used to the noise and means there is no stress during the fireworks.

All 4 puppies passed the course with flying colours and we can not wait to see how they all grow into lovely dogs!

Our next scallywags course will be with nurse Letitia on the 26th November at our Stamford Bridge Branch. If you would like to sign up, please call us on 01759 371066.

📢 ✨️ Huge Congratulations to our very own Hannah Tate ✨️
Earlier this year, Hannah was awarded her Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice, in Zoological Medicine. She has now been recognised by the RCVS as an Advanced Practitioner in Zoological Medicine. She joins Mark and Gemma in this exclusive group, meaning we are now proud to boast THREE of these avian and exotic vets here at Battle Flatts .
The certificate is a further qualification run by the RCVS recognising the experience, case load and expertise of a veterinary surgeon in their chosen field. The certificate is self-directed over a number of years and involves literature reviews, case reports and a case log of over 200 different cases! Before completion the individual must sit a 1 hour oral exam in front of two well-known Exotics vets.
As an Advanced Practitioner, she has completed more CPD with a high proportion of this in her chosen area and is actively contributing to advancing this field of study. Hannah's dedication to her patients and clients shines through in everything she does. We are so proud of you.

Congratulations Hannah!! 🎉🎉
