A group of volunteers and staff have decided to spend a night in our Kennels at HQ in Midhurst.
There will be 7 of us altogether, 5 in our individual kennels and 2 in our Day Pens.
Our wonderful charity is in desperate need of donations due to the huge intake of dogs since Covid. Our last quarter vet bill was £25,000. Our vet bills are ever increasing as are food and up keep costs.
We adore each and every dog that comes through our doors and want to give them the absolute best chance of finding their forever homes, no matter the cost but we can't do that without our fantastic supporters.
We have a resident dog in kennels who is doubly incontinent and our brilliant CEO, Tania Holmes has said she will sleep in with her for the night!
We decided to arrange our sleepover for just before Christmas, not only to raise money for the Charity but to raise awareness of the dogs across the country that will be spending Christmas in a Kennel.
So please, sponsor us and help us reach our target as this will help a huge amount!
Thank you
The Green Team 💚

Let me introduce you to this little pickle. This is Stella who travelled down to the kennels yesterday and is so far proving to be a total poppet. She will bow to everyone she sees and is currently exploring her new domain. Welcome to BDR Stella, what a fantastic life you are going to have.

We spoke before about the BDHQs resident dog Bodhi's anxiety issues and how we were trialling a medication option alongside his training (see https://www.facebook.com/share/p/j4LKH6JbN4jXCDmj/)
Well we thought we would give you an update. We are almost 3 weeks in and already this dog is happier. For the first time ever he happily accepted a sofa snuggle yesterday. A walk into town was walked to heel the entire way and he allowed members of the public to fuss him without any obvious signs of anxiety. In fact he even stayed relaxed with the family whilst I went into a pub to get a couple of pints and wasn't constantly pulling to see where I had gone. I was nervous about medicating him but I can honestly say he responds to commands much better, allows me to leave a room without panicking and there is a lot less stress hu***ng and shake offs going on. We will keep you posted, but in a climate where anxious lock down dogs are almost the norm, I would, at this point, definitely recommend this discussion with your vet if your dog is also such a nervous wreck a heart attack is a real option.

On a Winter's morning in February 2019, a couple drove round a corner on a country road to find a bulldog sat patiently. Processed as a stray she was never claimed and found her way to us at the kennels later that month. Very dog aggressive, clearly overbred and totally untrained, she became known as Vera and found her way to a fabulous family in the May. Vera passed away yesterday at 10½ years old and will be missed by many many people. Run Free you beautiful girl ###

We very sadly need to report the passing of Belle (DO3007), who has been in foster care in Carlisle for the past 17 months awaiting a new family. She was rushed to the vet with suspected pyo but it transpired she had a huge tumour size of a small watermelon in one o***y which had spread through to her kidneys and all the way into the intestines. Following veterinary advice, we have sadly taken the sad decision to not wake her up. Run free beautiful girl ###

Our Story

Bulldog Rescue and Rehoming are a UK charity helping Bulldogs in Need. Operated from their HQ in Midhurst the charity has over 80 volunteers that work tirelessly to ensure that when a Bulldog needs help there is always someone there for them.

Our History

The first mention of rescue crops up in February 1969. The then editor of the London Broad sheet; Sheila Alcock writes:

“LOVING HOMES WANTED: Three bully bi***es require affectionate homes …. Will you let me know if there is a spot in front of your fire for these little characters?”
