๐๐พ **Dog of the Week:** ๐ฅ
Drum roll please... ๐ฅ Introducing Isla, the amazing Super Doodle! ๐โจ
When sheโs not busy lending a paw at school, helping children read and boosting their confidence, you can find Isla letting her hair down at Do-Littles, having an absolute blast! ๐ซ๐
This girl knows how to have fun! Her favourite hobbies are running, spinning & paddling in the streams. She is loved by all her pack pals ๐๐
Islaโs is a super hero and her superpowers? Being gentle and calm, spreading love at school, and ruling the roost like a princess at home with her dad, mum and bros. ๐โค๏ธ And let's not forget, she's also got a side gig in teasing the cat! ๐น
Isla, you're a treasure! Keep shining bright ๐๐ถ

Yaay we made it! what are your weekend plans? I'm grooming Saturday morning catching up from the Bank Holiday x

Do you have a love-hate relationship with your dog trainer? I hear it all the time from clients.. โMy dog trainer is too strict!โ or โTheyโre too laid back!โ
Before you jump into the deep end with a new trainer, ask them about their methods and tools they use. Do they prefer the gentle training, or are they more into military-style boot camps? I recommend going to one of their classes or sessions and see how they work.
If it feels like a match, go for it! If not, keep searching for that perfect human-dog trainer for you.

๐ชDOG training is like dieting๐ช
Stick to it, and it works wonders. Play at it, and you might as well eat donuts while running on a treadmill!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I hope you had a fantastic time over the bank holiday! We enjoyed walks, family time, sheep shearing on the farm, and some tent repair duties. Hehe, have a fantastic week!

๐Let me introduce the dog of the week !๐
Meet Papi! This stunning Weimaraner is not just a looker, she's the life of the party at Do-Littles. She comes on adventures to have a break from her brother (because, even dogs need "me time"), Papi loves nothing more then tearing up the place with her playful antics.
Papiโs favourite hobbies are trying to butโ hilariously failingโto outrun Frank, spinning in circles like a canine tornado, giving me health checks with those adorable, concerned eyes, and, of course, rolling in fox p**p like itโs the latest spa treatment.
The first time I met Papi, she wouldnโt even get in the van. Now? Sheโs practically doing somersaults in anticipation and launching herself straight in, ready for another adventure.
We absolutely adore you, Papi! ๐ You make every week a little brighter and a lot more fun.

Ever wondered why your dog might not be listening to you?
22/05/2024
I see people with dogs that have really bad habits, and they say, "Oh Steph, I need to come to you to work on X, Y, Z," or I hear, "Oh, I canโt take my dog out for walks, itโs so stressful. Can you help?" Then I see them years later and they still have the same issues or more.
Why is that? What are the barriers to training?
Money?
Time?
Canโt be bothered?
Get used to the problem or it becomes a way of life?
Embarrassed?
Child care?
Thoughts welcome?

Training is a Lifelong Journey!
Do you ever wonder how long it should take to train your dog? While basic commands can be taught in just a few weeks, itโs important to remember that effective dog training is an ongoing commitment. Just like humans, our dog friends benefit from continuous learning and reinforcement. Even if you are not aware, you will be inadvertently training your hound, or they are training you!โoften leading to bad habits.
Why Keep Training?
Strengthens the Bond: Training sessions are quality time spent together.
Mental Stimulation: Keeps your dogโs mind sharp and engaged.
Improved Behaviour: Consistent training helps reinforce good behaviour and makes managing bad habits easier.
Dog training should be a fun and rewarding experience for both you and your pet. Whether you're starting from scratch or refining your dogโs skills, training is a positive, lifelong adventure for you and your pup. Whether itโs in a group or an online setting, go out and have some interaction with your dog today!

Let's Talk!
Iโve been asked to bring back structured training sessions, whether in the field, social walks or real life settings. Who's interested in training sessions? And what are your goals with your dog? and what times etc? let me know and I can see what I can do... ๐พ๐ช

Good Morning! What a beautiful day for a dog walk! ๐๐พ We have an action-packed day ahead. First, the dogs and I are off to pick elderflowers. Then, Molly and I will be making delicious elderflower cordial. After that, itโs Sunday lunch prep, and Iโll be recording a new podcast episode! Hope you have a fabulous day too. What are you up to? ๐

๐พ๐ Drum roll, please... Introducing the Dog of the Week ๐๐พ
Meet Frank, the crazy Cocker Spaniel with enough energy to power a small city! โก๏ธ This lovable, filthy beast is never seen standing still โ blink, and youโll miss him! From the days when I carried him in a puppy sling to now, as heโs grown into a handsome hound, Frank has always kept me on my toes. ๐ผโก๏ธ๐
His favorite hobbies? Swimming and doing laps around puddles like a champ! ๐๐ฆ Seriously, if puddle diving were an Olympic sport, Frank would have all the gold medals. ๐ฅ๐
It's a miracle I only find myself shouting "FFS Frank!" once a week! ๐คฃ Despite his antics, Frank has the best recall in all my packs โ when heโs not too busy being a whirlwind.
Hereโs to Frank for filling my days with laughter and a bit of muddy chaos! ๐ถโค๏ธ

Isn't it incredible how much joy our dog friends bring into our lives every day? Let's take a moment to prioritise their well-being too. Most dogs thrive on walks, playtime, good food, and of course, love. They love to be challenged and keep their minds active because let's face it, bored dogs are unhappy dogs. Lately, I've been focusing a lot on enrichment because my own dog, Persil, needs to take things a bit slower these days. That's why I'm thrilled to introduce my new service designed to keep your dogs entertained and engaged! No need to constantly buy new toysโthis is a monthly subscription service called HoundMail that delivers a weekly email with a simple yet fun activity for you and your furry friends. From interactive games to tricks, training tips, and even recipes, each email comes with a detailed PDF explaining the activity. Want to learn more or sign up? Click the link below!

Getting active doesn't necessarily mean you have to start runningโa leisurely stroll will do just fine. Simply being out in the fresh air can be mood-lifting. Now, I can already hear your protests: 'But my dog is reactive! I can't enjoy walks!' Well, now's the time to seek some help. Reach out to a local trainer to see if they can assist you. Or, consider joining a reactive dog walking group. Maybe you could buddy up with a friend for some support, or try going out at quieter times. You could even hire an enclosed field and take a walk around while playing with your dog. I firmly believe that how we feel affects our dogs' mental well-being too. So if they're overreactive, take a deep breath and let it go.

Practice Mindful Conversations with Your Dog, Engage in heartfelt conversations with your canine companion. Dogs are exceptional listeners who provide a non-judgmental presence, offering comfort and understanding in moments when words may fall short. Remember to talk to yourself how you would talk to your dog. Positive self talk helps!

Did you know it's Mental Health Awareness Week? I believe our canine friends can be a source of support during tough times. Over the next four days, I'll be sharing how they can help you. But it's important to recognize when you might need a little extra support. Here are some warning signs to look out for:
*Persistent sadness or irritability
*Changes in sleep patterns
*Loss of interest in activities
*Fatigue or lack of energy
*Difficulty concentrating
*Changes in appetite
*Physical ailments without explanation
*Social withdrawal
*Mood swings
*Thoughts of self-harm
Recognizing these signs and seeking help early can make a big difference. It's okay not to be okay, and reaching out for support is a sign of strength.

Let me introduce our Dog of The Week ๐
๐พ๐ Meet Winston, the golden retriever with a heart of gold and a coat of... well, assorted earthy tones! This adventurous mutt is a firm believer in the philosophy of 'the dirtier, the better.' Despite his title, Winston hasn't quite mastered the art of retrieving gold - his talents lie more in the realm of mud exploration! Winston's hobbies include bog diving, pond dwelling, and of course, perfecting the art of camouflage with some quality soil rolling sessions. ๐ถ๐ซ

Yaaay we made it guys! Have a good one x
09/05/2024
My dogs are not perfect. In fact, one of the reasons I got into dog training is because Eric is reactive. It's been quite the journey, and you know what? He still isn't perfect. He never will be. BUT I manage him, he understands, and I never put him in a position where he can let himself down! I love him, and he is living his best life.

My night shift work pal! Persil has had her blood results. She has an underactive thyroid, so hopefully medication will help ๐. A big shoutout to Minster Vets at Southwell for being so patient with her. She says she's sorry for the accident wee she did all over someone ๐พ
Thank you all for your lovely comments and messages โค๏ธ

Having bid farewell to a dear friend today, one of my wishes would be for each day to overflow with laughter, love, and cherished moments spent with family & friends.
What would you wish for?
07/05/2024
Today was a tough day for Persil and me. We had to make a trip to the vet for some blood work, and let me tell you, Persil is quite the drama queen when it comes to vet visits! ๐พ But with mixed emotions, I had to really reflect on whether it was worth putting her through the stress.
In the end, I know it's essential to find out what's going on with her health and whether medication can help her feel better. Despite her fear and anxiety, Persil deserves to live her best and healthiest life possible. So, we braved the vet trip together, with a little help from some sedation to keep her calm.
On top of that, She has been dealing with a knee that keeps dislocating, which means I have to be extra vigilant about her weight, exercise, and providing pain relief as needed. I've come to realize that my girl is getting older, and it's been a wake-up call for me to cherish our time together and ensure she isn't overdoing it. Another shout-out for scent work and enrichment activitiesโkeeping her calm when needed is more important than ever. ๐พ
Here's to hoping for some answers and solutions to make Persil's life a little easier. ๐โค๏ธ

๐พ Good Morning! Here are 3 essential truths every dog parent should know. 1. **Training Never Ends** - Whether you realize it or not, every interaction you or others have with your dog is a training moment, influencing both good and bad behaviour. Stay consistent and mindful! 2. **Dogs Aren't Kids** - Unlike children, dogs don't need to interact with every canine they encounter. Respecting their space and comfort is more important than a forced "hello." Play should be with dogs you know and trust. 3. **Keep Their Minds Active** - Dogs need to use their brains and senses consistently. Engage them with plenty of enrichment activities to prevent boredom. Remember, a bored dog is an unhappy dog, but a mentally stimulated dog is content and happy. #PetParentTips #DogTrainingTips #HappyDogs #CanineEnrichment #MentalStimulationForDogs #HealthyDogs #DogBehaviour #PetCareAwareness #ContentCanines
