A member of the public found a freezing puppy that had been dumped in a snow-covered fly-tip amongst piles of rubbish near Vittoria Street in Smethwick on 20th November 💔
The young Staffordshire Bull Terrier, now named Merry, was visibly cold and terrified and had a concerning lump on her stomach. She was rushed for urgent veterinary treatment at RSPCA Birmingham Animal Centre and Hospital, where she remains to regain her strength until she's ready to find a new home.
Our animal rescuers returned to the scene to ensure no other animals had been abandoned and fortunately, none were found.
If you have any first-hand information on Merry's abandonment, please contact our appeals line on 0300 123 8018.
We've seen a 51% increase in animal abandonments during the winter months over the past 3 years. Join the Christmas Rescue and help us to be there for more vulnerable animals like Merry: https://bit.ly/4h0QDfn
