When Alan lost his long battle with cancer Roger went to live with our volunteer Angela Owen. Alan had rescue him from an abusive home and he was so worried that he was going to end up at a rescue centre. Alan was so relieved when we said we would love and care for Roger when the time came. He even got to know Angela so knew exactly where Roger would go, what walks he would go on and was very sure of how much love he would get. Not sure whether Angela mentioned Antlers at Christmas! What we are sure of is that he would be so happy to see his dear boy living his best life!

Are our pets protected from the cold? 🤔❄️

Many people think that our pets are protected from the cold by all their fur, but this isn’t actually true. 🧊

Like us humans, our pets can also develop a dangerous and potentially deadly condition called hypothermia. Any pet can become seriously ill if the temperature of their body drops too low, and acting quickly and doing the right thing could save your pet’s life. If you suspect your pet may have hypothermia, it’s important to call your vet straight away and follow their advice. 👩‍⚕️⚠️

The sweet taste of anti-freeze can be appealing to pets, which is why they are often tempted to drink it from leaky car radiators or driveway spillages. 🙅‍♀️ But did you know that anti-freeze products can actually kill pets if ingested?! ⚠️😰

Anti-freeze contains ethylene glycol, which is found in products such as car screen wash, brake and radiator fluid. If it's swallowed (even in small amounts), it’s extremely toxic and causes fatal damage to the kidneys and nervous system. 😿

Are you aware of the Highway code changes. When you see a horse on a road, you should slow down to a maximum of 10 mph. Be patient, do not sound your horn or rev your engine. When safe to do so, pass slow and wide, allowing at least 2 metres of space.

Abandoned in a box in our hospital reception, Carrie, Casper and Freddy were frightened and confused. Believed to be only six weeks old, they had been separated from Mum too early and it was vital we did everything we could to save them. 💔

Luckily, after some TLC from the team, the kittens pulled through and are now thriving in foster whilst they get ready for new homes. 🏡 We just couldn't resist giving them Halloween-themed names! 👻🎃
