💛 NAME OUR PRAIRIE DOG PUPS 💛

Can you help us name our adorable new arrivals? Six healthy prairie dog pups have joined our family and we're finally getting to see them out and about.

Prairie dogs burrow away and have their babies quite secretly underground, so we don't get to see them until mama decides they are ready to be out in the world.

We'd love to come up with six names for the new babes, any ideas????

Asking for a friend! Well, all our friends at The Sloth Conservation Foundation who are researching public perceptions and experiences regarding encounters with sloths.

Scroll through socials and you'll find thousands of photos of people holding sloths and other wildlife, and the team at SloCo want to understand why ❓.

🧾They've partnered with Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo to create a survey to investigate further and they'd love to know what YOU think.

It's quick and easy to complete, anonymous, and it will help to provide meaningful insights on what people really feel about interacting with sloths and other animals.

Today is World Rainforest Day where we celebrate rainforests and encourage action to preserve them 🌍. Rainforests cover just 6% of the planet but support around 50% of the world's biodiversity 🤯!

Drusillas is lucky enough to provide a home to over 11 rainforest species. Including critically endangered Sulawesi crested black macaques, cotton-top tamarins, and the four new yellow-breasted capuchin monkeys we recently welcomed.

We have had breeding success with both the cotton-top tamarins and macaques in the last few years, helping to preserve species fighting for survival in their native rainforests due to deforestation and climate change.

Other wonderful rainforest species you can spot the next time you visit include endangered golden lion tamarins, and giant anteaters, binturongs, and Goeldi's monkeys - all listed as vulnerable by the ICUN red list. As well as our beautiful Linne's two-toed sloths, saki monkeys, cheeky red-handed tamarins, and silvery marmosets.

🤍 We'd like you to meet.... NOVA 🤍

Thank you to everyone who sent in name suggestions for our littlest silvery marmoset babe. There were a few names that the keepers liked, but everyone agreed that Nova suited the little one perfectly!

Nova is doing brilliantly and is already spending time off mum exploring independently with their siblings, Luna, Opal, Lumi, and Alba.

Marmosets are super curious, especially when they are little and learning about the world around them, so be sure to say hello next time you're here and you might notice Nova offering you some inquisitive little head tilts 🥺

This is Jesse - waist deep in our fish pond, going about his daily tasks of weeding and pruning. Jesse cares for all our beautiful plants and flowers across the whole of Drusillas, including inside our animal habitats.

Next time you're here, take a moment to notice our ever evolving greenery and planting all around the Park, with lots of exotic and unusual flowers to see - plus all the lovely bees and butterflies who visit them, especially this time of year! 🦋🐝

⭐ An ape-solutely capuch-in-credible arrival! (too much?)

We are SO excited to introduce you to the new boys in town - our handsome new group of yellow-breasted capuchins! 🙌

Since arriving from Dudley Zoo, they have already stolen the hearts💘of our team, so we thought we'd tell you a little about each of their personalities.

🐒CLINT: Clint has earned the title of 'pretty boy' of the group with his good looks and calm, confident nature - he's definitely a heartbreaker! He has taken the second-in-command spot among the group and mostly pairs with his best bud, Doyle.

🐒DEET: Quiet boy Deet came in strong when they first arrived and made an attempt to take the 'top dog' spot, which didn't quite work out. He's much quieter and more reserved than the others, and likes time to himself.

🐒CHOPS: Sweet boy Chops wants nothing more than to be everyone's friend, and will do anything to avoid conflict and keep the peace - he never tests any boundaries and just wants everyone to get along all the time.

🐒DOYLE: With a natural authoritative nature and self assured confidence, Doyle slotted into the role of boss with ease. He's a fair ruler and although he makes the ultimate decisions, he still brings the whole group together to groom and rest.

Not only do these guys represent a species-first for Drusillas, they are also classified as critically endangered in the wild, so they will play a huge part in the conservation of one of the most threatened primates in the world.

🌒 Dreamnight 2024 🌟

A truly special evening took place last night, and we want to sincerely thank everyone who was part of this magical moment at the Park 💜 It is such a privilege to host this event.

The generosity of the businesses we work with is exceptional and everyone went home with a belly full of food, arms full of toys, and a head full of memories.

Thank you to our amazing VIPs for braving the rain (which thankfully stopped!) and still coming along, the wonderful performers who kept everyone entertained, sports and circus workshop teams for the relentless energy, and a huge thank you to our own team - we are SO lucky to call you our team.

🙌 Our New Colobus Habitat is COMPLETE! 🖤

Representing our largest ever zoo investment at half-a-million-pounds, we are so proud to finally unveil this beautiful new space that our colobus troop are already having a wonderful time exploring.

Maarten, Adaeze, Yoyo, Kylo, Romeo, Domino, Arlo, and Pedro have settled in beautifully in their new home and it's fantastic to watch them discovering all the new areas of interest and enrichment.

We are particularly thrilled with how breathtaking the immersive tree-top viewing platforms are, seeing our colobus playing in the trees so close is really lovely!

This project is particularly special because it brings a new partnership with Colobus Conservation and we invite you to visit our colobus, and learn how you can help ensure the future survivial of this amazing primate 🌎

Savannah cats might look cute, but do you know the story behind them? These elegant animals are the offspring of wild servals and domesticated cats. This is unregulated unlicensed and on the increase. Help us raise awareness by following Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, sharing this video, do not interact with any social posts you see advertising Savannah cats, and adopt pet cats only from reputable rescue centres and breeders ❤️
