Mr P was in for his regular groom 🛁🐾 .

He is a miniature Australian double doodle! So again has a mixed wool coat like many of my clients but his can get very thick with tight curls....a bit like a Lamb 🐑!! To keep him comfortable we groom him regularly and as a result he is an absolute star 🌟.

Mr J came in today....it's been a while since his last groom so the finish is never going to be perfect, but we took our time, made it positive and he left a happy boy! .
Ideally a mixed wool coat (any breed crossed with a Poodle or Bichon) needs to be on a regular schedule of between 4-9 weeks, depending on how much maintenance you do at home and the length of coat your dog has. If a dogs coat can't be brushed with a comb from their skin to the tip of the hair, and it's knotty and matted then it's like a straight jacket for the dog, pulling on their skin every time they move or scratch.

We always promote at least 3 puppy grooms before a dog reaches 6 months of age and then has a full groom. Especially mixed wool dogs (who will always need lots of maintenance), longhaired, Wirehaired or double coated breeds or nervous dogs. It’s all about getting a dog used to the noises, sensations and smells of the salon as well as trusting me and the grooming process. .
