After seeing probably the worst start to the foaling season that I’ve ever seen I thought I’d do a post regarding foal prices.
I do not think buyers should be shocked when the prices of foals this year increase significantly from reputable breeders.
This winter has been horrific, the amount of rain that has come down has been staggering.
The amount of vets I’ve seen go to mares and foals and the amount of foster mares and foals going is heartbreaking.
The loss of a foal or mare is significant to any breeder, not only emotionally but financially also.
So please when you’re going to look for your new four legged companion do not be nasty to breeders when they tell you a price, it’s not for the faint hearted.
They shouldn’t be running at a loss, so if a foal is not in your budget please do not be offended and be realistic. The hours of care, sleepless nights and constant worry isn’t factored into their price tag as it cannot be valued so please be considerate.
And to all the breeders out there, I salute to you all. It’s been a tough year so far and I hope it is more positive going forward than it has been for others this year.
Keep your heads up, youre all doing fantastic❤️
