SHUNTER DRIVER
Position Available

Based in Preston/Leyland

Whitfire Shavings & Sawdust are looking for the appropriate candidate who is keen, punctual, reliable and responsible. We, as a business, manufacture and distribute shavings and sawdust to Poultry farms, Cattle farms and stables.

The position includes:

- Shunting loaded articulated trailers between the shaving/drying plant and unloading them using the tipping platform.
- Operating the tipping platform.
- Replacing loaded trailers at the shaving plant with empty trailers.
- Ensure operations are safe and efficient and plant and machinery is clean.
- Driving forklift trucks and other machinery on site.
- Working with other members of staff to ensure safe and effective operations.

Experience:

- HGV license is desirable.
- Training is provided where needed.

Working days:

We have a shift system in operation
Week One: 7am to 3pm Monday to Saturday
Week Two: 2pm to 10pm Monday to Friday

Overtime Rates are available.

TRAINEE MACHINE OPERATOR (timber shavings/machine tool operator)
Position Available

Whitfire Shavings & Sawdust are looking for a candidate who must be hardworking, punctual and reliable.

Based in Preston/Leyland.

The Job includes:

- Operating industrial shavers with 2 other colleagues as part of a team of 3.
- Supervising the shavers to ensure they are l working correctly, safely and efficiently.
- Removal of cutting heads regularly and sharpening the heads by a semi automated grinder.
- Working with other colleagues in the team to get the job done efficiently.

Experience:
- Forklift and Telehandler experience is beneficial.

Training:
- Full training provided to ensure safe and competent operation of the machinery

Working days:
- 6 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday
- 6am to 1 pm Saturday
- Overtime Rates available, further discussion prior to interview.

Whitfire is a family run business that manufactures and delivers bulk and palletised shavings to poultry and dairy farms across the UK.

Job includes
* Exchanging trailers at sawmills
* Delivering bulk loads of shavings to poultry and dairy farms
* 2/3 nights out per week
* Saturday shift occasional.
* We operate 1 driver / 1 truck policy
* Approximately 12 hours per day
