Today’s the day! Pumpkin has officially begun her 6 week trial with her potential new owners!

We are so excited for her and we’ll keep you updated as she continues on her journey. We are so hopefu this is the one for our girl and we can’t wait to see how she gets on.

What a week!

We had a good catch up with handsome boy Logan who we rehomed earlier this year to his wonderful forever family! He is doing so well and we are so lucky that we get to see him regularly even though he's been rehomed!

Pumpkin has had two really positive meet and greets and has two really great homing options! We'll be spending the weekend reviewing the applicants and getting her prepared for the next steps in her rehoming journey!

The best news we have is that we have finally got a family interested in Sansa! They are off on holiday soon so we'll be arranging her meet and greet for a few weeks time but if things work out, this could be the forever home our big lovely girl has been looking for!

Things seem to be heading in the right direction for our girls and we are so excited to get Pumpkin and Sansa ever closer to their forever homes!

Just a little Pumpkin pup doing some settle training at a local cafe!

This little miss has another meet and greet next week and we are so excited to see if this home will be the one for our girl!

We have two potentially great options for this sweet little girl and we'll be taking our time once we've met the other family tomorrow before we arrange her trial period and get moving forward with getting her out to her forever home.

Sansa is a 3 year old Romanian rescue mixed breed with a lot of love to give! She is loving, playful and enjoys going out and exploring new places with her people!

She is looking for a home who:
-have no children under 11
-have no cats or small animals
-have no other dogs or another calm and well trained dog
-who are willing to continue her training
-who will give her lots of love!

Litttle miss Pumpkin had her first meet and greet today and it went really well!

She has another one next week which also sounds like a great option and we are so pleased that we potentially have two wonderful home options for this sweet and sassy gir.

Little and large had a lovely long walk this morning together and we really enjoyed ourselves!

- Applications for Pumpkin are now CLOSED! We've got some meet and greets with applicants and assess suitability of each person and hopefully find her the perfect home!

Hopeful Hounds is looking for 2 foster families to join the team!

What kind of families are we looking for:
-families willing to continue the training our dogs need in order to find their forever homes
-no children under 16
-no other dogs or dogs must be trained to a good standard

What benefits do you get:
-food and supplementation is provided for each dog
-equipment is provided (within reason)
-vet treatment is covered
-full support from our team including a foster family private group

Each of our foster families are asked to attend one 2 hour evening session with our team twice a year to provide support and training and to meet the dogs we currently have in!

We will be picking 2 foster families to join our team to help us to help more dogs find their forever homes!

How BEAUTIFUL is this shot Jess took at a recent walk with Sansa?!

This girl had a lovely walk with a few other dogs and even took a paddle in the water to cool off which she absolutely loved too! This sweet girl absolutely thrives off of going on adventures and walking in our local large woods was totally up her alley.

Yesterday, with the help of Jess from Holistic Hounds, we took Sansa into Reading town center for the first time!

She did SO well and we are so proud to see how much progress she has made since we first took her on back in March! She took everything in her stride and was very comfortable walking around both inside and out and was more than happy ignoring all the random people around her!

We are so proud of how confident and kind this sweet girl has turned into and we know she is going to make someone such a lovely dog when she gets the chance.

Where are all of our big dog lovers at?!

Sweet Sansa has been with us for 127 days and hasn't had a SINGLE application! We really don't understand why as Sansa is a really lovely big girl who has been patiently waiting for her perfect forever home to find her.

Sansa is a 3 year old, Romanian Shepherd mixed breed who is so loving, playful and kind and loves nothing more than going for walks and having cuddles on the sofa!

She is looking for a home who:

Thanks to all of your support she has received 2 more applications that sound like really good options for her and we're starting the process of meeting potential adopters and assessing their suitability to find the perfect home for our little firecracker.

Despite having a fair amount of interest, little miss Pumpkin hasn't quite found her perfect forever home just yet and so we are re-advertising her to make sure we find the very perfect home for our little firecracker!

Pumpkin is a 3 year old, Patterdale Terrier with a lot of sass and a lot of love! She is a VERY typical terrier, has a fairly high prey drive and really enjoys working, walking and doing training. She is good with other dogs but does prefer to be around calmer dogs and would rather live as either an only dog or with another calm dog to learn from. She has a high prey drive which is VERY typical for this breed and so for this reason we don't think she would be suitable to live with a cat or other small animals in the same home. Pumpkin is good with children over 11 as she finds younger children a bit scary.

Little and Large reunited!

These two have been loving going on walks together again since Pumpkin has been back with us and it's been so sweet seeing them back together after some time apart!

Little Pumpkin won't be with us for much longer but sweet Sansa is still patiently waiting for her perfect forever family so if you are interested in a big lovable goof - Sansa is your girl!

Little miss Pumpkin has been a popular lady since the day she arrived and we've had a fair few messages asking if she is still available for adoption!

Pumpkin is currently still RESERVED as we do have a family interested in her and she will be heading to meet them soon so fingers crossed! If not we do have a few people who have messaged who we will contact on a first come first served basis so please do bear with us if you have messaged.

And although we are VERY happy to have a ton of options for our little firecracker, if you're looking for a new dog please do consider looking into our sweet Sansa who doesn't have the options Pumpkin currently does. Hopeful Hounds is assisting in the private re homing of 4 German Shepherd and one Rottweiler who are in need of new forever homes!

All of these dogs have been working with a professional fog trainer for their whole lives and have good foundations as well as being friendly and genuinely lovely dogs. I have met and personally assessed all but one of the Shepherds and although they are not being held with us, they are getting continued support from their dog trainer whilst we wait for placements for each of them.

Photos 1 and 2 is King and Missy.
King is a 7 year old, Sable neutered male. He is friendly with people and is affectionate. He can be dominant with other male dogs but is not aggressive and has been managed well. King does have some neurological issues which is displayed with some lameness behind however he has good movement and is currently comfortable. The owners have chosen not to look into this further. He is the father to both younger shepherds.

Missy is a 7 year old, black and tan neutered female. She is sociable with people although can be shy with young children. She is good with other dogs and is quite playful. She is the mother to both younger shepherds and has no ongoing health issues.

King and Missy have NEVER been separated so we'd ideally like a home where they can stay together.

Max is a 2 year old, sable neutered male. He is sociable and friendly with people, is very affectionate and enjoys being around people. he is friendly with dogs and has a good foundation of training. He does have a fairly high prey drive and enjoys chasing things if left to his own devices. He has been known to be destructive if left in unfamiliar surroundings however is crate trained. He has had issues in the past with dirty ears but has no other ongoing health issues.

Roxy is a 2 year old, sable female, she is NOT neutered. She is the only one I haven't personally met but is the sister to Max and is one the trainer has personally worked with extensively since she was born. She is very sociable to both people and dogs, has a lot of energy and is pretty high drive so would enjoy having a job and doing something fun with her family. She is affectionate and loving but isn't a fan of being left on her own. This isn't something that has been worked on at the moment though. She has no ongoing health issues.

Lilley is a 9 year old Rottweiler female, neutered. She is a loving and affectionate girl who loves nothing more than a cuddle on the sofa. She has however had 2 incidents in the past where she has bitten people she doesn't know when put under pressure. We however saw no aggression when we met her and she has been around people since with no issues. We would however not want to place her with children under 16 for this reason. Lilley is sociable with other dogs but does need appropriate introductions as she is almost 100% deaf. Lilley has had both her cruciate ligaments operated on in the past, she also suffered from a serious
case of pyometra. As she has gotten older she has been losing her hearing more and more and now can’t hear normal speaking volume.

All of these dogs will be rehomed out on a 6 week trial period initially with full support to ensure they adjust as best as possible.

We've been practicing miss Sansa's obedience training and she is actually a very smart young lady who really enjoys doing something fun!

Now that Sansa has lost a decent amount of weight since she came to us at nearly 40kg and very overweight and with a lot of hard work, increased exercise and some conditioning she is now a really wonderful weight and has so much more energy and enjoys her longer walks!

We have some sad news... Pumpkin is unfortunately back with us and looking for an alternative placement.

We cannot stress enough that Pumpkin is NOT at fault here and sadly an unexpected family issue meant that they were no longer able to adopt Pumpkin despite absolutely loving her. She genuinely didn't do anything wrong and we are all gutted that this placement didn't work out for our little girl.

We'll be contacting her alternative applicants to see if any of those who applied would be interested in her and until then, she'll be heading out on foster to one of our incredible foster families whilst she readjusts and waits for the perfect forever home to come along!

Although we're so sad for our girl, these things do happen and it's why we have a 6 week trial system in place. If circumstances change, we are always here to help and our priority is always in ensuring our dogs are getting the very best placement with as minimal stress as possible. Pumpkin has settled back in remarkably well and we're confident she'll be snapped up super quickly!

Today we got a letter with the BEST news - Hopeful Hounds has officially received charity relief status!

When I tell you tears were shed, I really do mean it! We are still a very small little charity trying to help dogs as best we can and this little bit of good news from HMRC really does make all the difference! Thank you all so much for your continued support from us and our dogs, we are excited to grow this little charity more and help more dogs like Logan, Pumpkin and Sansa find perfect forever homes ❤️

HUGE thank you to the team at Holistic Hounds for running their charity group walk today in aid of Hopeful Hounds!

We had both Sansa and Pumpkin join us for the walk today and both were foot perfect! We can’t wait to find out how much we managed to raise to help our dogs and we’ll let you know when we have the final figure.

Thank you to everyone who came along and donated to our little project, we are so pleased we get to help dogs like Logan, Pumpkin and Sansa find forever homes!
