The moment we've all been waiting for - Arlo has been adopted!

After a super successful 6 week trial, Arlo's new family are smitten and it was clear this was the perfect forever family for him! He is so happy with his new family, enjoying time with their other dog and getting VERY spoilt just in time for Christmas!

We couldn't be happier for this sweet little boy and are wishing him all the happiness in his new forever family!

Both Pumpkin and Sansa are still looking for their perfect forever homes and although it just hasn't been their times this year, we are hoping that it won't be far into 2025 before they are off to their forever homes!

With roughly 6 weeks before we close for Christmas - could you offer a forever home to one of our girls for this Christmas?

Sansa:
Sansa is a 3 year old, large mixed breed dog from Romania
She is a bit shy with new people and would prefer to be an only dog or live with one other calm dog to learn from. She is not cat or small animal tested and needs to live with no children or older children over the age of 16.
Sansa is a big, lovable goofball who just wants to go for nice walks and cuddle on the sofa. Despite her size, she is a very cuddly dog and enjoys spending time with her people.

Pumpkin:
Pumpkin is a 3 year old, small Patterdale Terrier
She is good with people but can be dog selective and would prefer to live as an only dog or with only one other calm and well trained dog. She is not safe to live with cats or small animals and needs to live with no children or older children over the age of 11.
Pumpkin is a little sass queen, she is a small dog with a BIG personality and needs a family who can do a lot with her! She enjoys going on long walks, doing sport work and cuddling on the sofa when she's at home. She thrives off of a random routine and being kept busy and would excel at sport work like agility, GRC, lure racing and barn hunt.

Today we celebrated Pumpkin's 4th Birthday!

Our job at Hopeful Hounds is to help dogs in need find the perfect forever homes they deserve but as you may know, at the moment rescues of all shapes and sizes are really struggling.

More and more dogs are being rehomed and less and less families are looking to adopt putting rescues in a difficult position where dogs are staying in rescue longer and therefore less spaces are becoming available for new dogs to enter the system. As a very small rescue, we ourselves only have a couple of spaces available and are relying on foster families to open up further spaces. However to add further complications, the dogs we work with often have prior behavioral issues and need continued training or specific set ups which can make finding the perfect foster family or adoptive family a little more challenging.

Currently, we have both Sansa and Pumpkin waiting for their forever families and until one of them heads out to a family, we are unable to take on any other dogs. Our dogs live with us, in our family home with our 7 personal dogs and so we are sadly limited on spaces and don't have a kennel facility in order to house more dogs. This has huge benefits for the dogs we work with but we only have so much space in our home to offer.

We also shared recently that we have about 7 dogs currently on our waitlist waiting for a space to become available. We regularly get contacted about other dogs needing a rescue space and although we would love to help these people and their dogs, it is simply unfair to continue adding to our waitlist with no idea on a time frame on when we can help these dogs.

So we have made the incredibly difficult decision to temporarily close our waitlist. This means that we will not be able to directly offer help to any new enquirers in an effort to focus our resources on helping the dogs within our care and those on our waitlist as a first port of call.

Our aim is to reopen this as soon as we can in order to continue helping more dogs once we are able to do so.

If you have space in your family, please consider adopting a dog either from us or another rescue helping other dogs in need

After a successful meet and greet, today Arlo heads out on trial to his potential forever home!

We always set time for our dogs to go on trial to potential forever homes prior to adoption to make sure this is the perfect home for our dogs and the families they are going to! The trial periods allow families and dogs to get to know each other, be a part of every day life and learn if this would be a good long term fit for both people and dog. We offer full support during the trial periods as well as time with our team to combat any trouble shooting and ensure the best chance of success we possibly can.

Today Arlo will be starting a weekend trial and if all goes well, will be heading straight into his final 6 week trial so keep your fingers crossed for our sweet boy!

We wish them all the best luck as they get to know each other and we'll keep you updated on his journey on our social media too!

Gorgeous Sansa is patiently waiting for her perfect forever family!

This beautiful girl may be on the larger side but she is just a big happy puppy who want to be cuddled and go exploring! She enjoys going for walks in new places, hanging out in the garden and cuddling on the sofa with her people. She really is a lovely dog for the right family and is so loving!

This sweet girl really is a wonderful young lady and we know her perfect home is out there somewhere!

Sansa update!

Sansa has been reserved to a potential family for a few weeks now as we've been working together to help Sansa and their current dog to get to know each other prior to her heading out on trial to them. Sadly their other dog struggled to cope with the changes of having Sansa with them and they have since decided that it's just not the right fit for their current dog which is totally understandable.

So that sadly means that Sansa is still looking for her perfect forever home!

Sansa is looking for a home who:
-has no or one calm and well trained other dog
-no children under the age of 16
-no cats or small animals
-has an understanding of overseas rescues
-will continue her training to help her adjust to her new life

This sweet girl really is a wonderful young lady and we know her perfect home is out there somewhere!

A very honest post...

Rescue is HARD right now! It seems now more than ever, people are looking to rehome their dogs and there are less and less adopters looking for a new member of the family which is putting a huge strain on the rescue world.

As a small and fairly new rescue, I get countless messages from people trying to find space for their dog to be rehomed, particularly for dogs with behavioral issues who need a more one on one facility to help them to succeed. I currently have 6 dogs on our wait list waiting for a space to become available and 2 new rehoming enquirers have come through just this week. We are doing all we can to help these dogs and their owners but there is only so much we can do as a small facility run by one human who loves dogs.

I feel like it is important to be honest in situations like this, we can only improve or gain support when people know there is an issue we are facing. However, there are things you as outsiders can do to help even if rehoming a dog isn't an option right now!

How can you help?
1. Share our posts, content and tell others about us
The more people who know about us, our dogs and what we do, the more potential to find forever homes for our dogs, foster families and support to help us help more dogs in need.

2. Donate
A small donation really can go a long way and it doesn't have to be money you donate. We have an Amazon Wishlist where you can buy gifts for our dogs or if you can donate financially, we are always grateful for every penny no matter how small.

3. Become a foster family
If you have space in your home to help a dog in need and are willing to continue with training consider applying to become a foster family! Foster families provide a temporary home for a dog in need until they can find a forever home. Foster families get full support from our team as well as financial support and are a crucial way of increasing capacity without a formal facility to house dogs.

4. Adopt a dog!
If you DO have a dog shaped hole in your home, please consider meeting one of our dogs and seeing if you would be a good fit for a forever home for them. We put a lot of time and energy into helping the dog we work with get the training and support they need to be loving family members and all adopters get full lifetime support so we can help at any point in your dogs lifetime.

We can't thank those of you who continue to support our little rescue project, we are doing all we can to help dogs in need and even though it's tough right now, every hard day is worth it when one of our dogs finds the perfect forever home!

Paws up if you're adorable - Pumpkin is!

Pumpkin is looking for a forever home with a family who can do a lot with this wonderful little sass queen! Pumpkin is a typical terrier and LOVES doing a lot. She would love a home where her family will do some sort of sport with her and keep her mind active. She thrives off of being active and would be a great sport dog for things like obedience, agility, GRC, barn hunt or lure racing.
