She’s back! 🐶 🛁 ✂️
After an emotional rollercoaster couple of weeks with some really low lows, but also some highs! I’m officially back in the Pooch Parlour as of today 🫧 and I can’t wait to see all of my little Pooch Pals! 😍
I’ve done my best to reply to messages over the past week while we’ve been away, and I’ve been working on appts today. But if you are expecting a message and don’t hear from me in the next couple of days, just give me a nudge! 🩷
Let’s do this! 🫶🏻
Daxie Day in the Pooch Parlour! There were tears, tantrums, spillages, cuddles and a whole lot of Daxie fun! 😅🐾😍

Just a little insight inside the Pooch Parlour…
A lot of the time I work with dogs that have had bad experiences in other grooming settings. As I’m sure a lot of groomers do. Often, the owners aren’t even aware of what their dogs are experiencing, as on pick up they are told “Yeah, Dave was fine”. When in fact, Dave was anything but fine; but the job was done, the money was taken and the dog can’t talk. This isn’t necessarily due to lack of care on the part of another groomer. But unfortunately, in a completely unregulated industry, practices that do not centre on a dog’s well being and that prioritise ‘getting the job done’ are very very common. Please do your research carefully and advocate for you dog 🐶
In a large pet superstore a couple of days ago I watched as a dog was left alone on the table restrained by a neck noose and a belly strap, while the groomer went off to answer the phone and deal with a customer in the reception. The poor dog couldn’t even sit down, let alone exhibit natural behaviour as the Freedoms of the Animal Welfare Act dictates. It was being treated as an object to work on 😥
Louie in this video came to me terrified of the drier, and his Mum had no clue. He is 4 years old and has been groomed regularly his whole life. This is classic fight or flight, and he was a risk to himself on the table hence why I was drying him on the floor. Fast forward to today’s appt and I couldn’t be prouder of his progress. So chilled and trusting on the table being dried with the same drier 🥰
You wouldn’t leave your child somewhere and have no clue what happens to them while they are there. Check on your fur babies ❤️✌🏻🐶

When the grooming table becomes a dog’s safe space 😍 that’s when you’re winning 🙌🏻
Bonnie had never been groomed before and was nervous and skeptical when Mum dropped her off! By the end of the session, each time I turned around Bonnie was on the table with a big smile on her face! Love her 😍
Happy Pooch 🐶
The dryer monster can be the scariest part of the groom for sooooo many dogs. Choose your scary 😍 because dogs need choices too, and in the Pooch Parlour they have them 🥰

“So you don’t tie them up at all?”
No. I don’t tie them up. I don’t use restraints. It’s how I’ve been trained; to City & Guilds Level 3, and it’s what I 100% believe in 👍🏻 along with many other fantastic groomers 🐶 Lots of people have told me to video it 🙈 it’s not complicated; it’s skill, reading a dog, compassionate handling and it’s not for everyone, and that’s fine.
This is Ellie, a 4.5 year old black Lab. She’s been to a couple of other groomers but was extremely nervous - too anxious to even accept treats at first. Bad news for a Lab! 🤪 So nervous I had to initially lift her onto my table at it’s lowest height. However, gaining trust, and making Ellie comfortable meant she was soon jumping on all by herself 🙌🏻
Table. Bath. Drying. No restraints 🥰
Grooming CAN be scary for any dog, restrained or not restrained. There are lots of amazing groomers out there working with and without restraints. Choose your dog’s groomer, choose your dog’s scary, choose your dog’s safe, get on with your day - simple as that really ✌🏻
