Simba came in for a full groom today 🙂 and it’s taking every fibre of my being to not belt out Lion King bangers right now!!

Simba is an absolutely gorgeous Pomeranian who visited my parlour for the first time today 😃 I love this breed so much & I couldn’t wait to get started!

First up it was time to introduce Simba to the parlour and familiarise him; before giving him a good bath. He was quite nervous, but after some fuss it didn’t take him too long to get used to me 😃 I used some citrus scented shampoo 🍊 and a generous helping of conditioner. Conditioner is always handy with double coated breeds as it can help loosen up any parts of the coat which may be compacted or knotted. This is very common with Poms, so I conditioned the heck out of him. Towards the end Simba seemed to really relax in the bath 🧼 and he smelt beautiful afterwards!

Once he was all rinsed off, it was time to dry Simba using the standing dryer. I used a slicker brush to help untangle any knots or compacted fur which may be present, and also to hurry the process along as I’m an impatient toad. I fit Simba with a happy hoodie and got started right away. He was quite nervous at first, but again he settled down quite quickly 🙂 once he knew what the dryer was doing he no longer felt scared of it. We got him dry in no time!

Once all dry it was time for his cut 🙂 Pomeranians should never be clipped unless they’re absolutely matted to the bone. Thankfully Simba was not, so a scissor trim it was! I used my thinning scissors to trim all round his chest, body and backside, brushing up the fur with my comb and then repeating. This process is all about removing volume, and sculpting the coat back more than anything. It’s really satisfying, and Simba was good as gold, he wasn’t nervous at all. After he was all tidy and trimmed, I sprayed him with some doggie cologne, fit him with a Halloween bow 🎀 and then it was time for pickup! 🚗

It was great meeting Simba today 😃 I love grooming Pomeranians, they’re such a beautiful breed. Huge thankyou to his owner Dani for bringing him to me today, I really appreciate it 🙏 I look forward to seeing Simba again when he next needs a groom!
