Nurse Lily’s cat Dora showing us that anyone can jump a fence at 16, which is 80 years old in human years!😱 Dora recently started treatment for arthritis, and hasn’t been as active in years! She is on Metacam once daily on her food to help control the pain of arthritis. There are lots of options for arthritis and it really does ‘give you your cat back’ in many respects. Dora is now climbing, out of bed more and is enjoying her retirement in the garden 🪴

Rosie comes to see us every 4 weeks for her Librela injection for arthritis. She was also rocking a cooling vest to keep her cool!😎🧊
Arthritis is painful, and we have lots of treatment options available for older pets. Often the ‘there getting old now’ is treatable and it can give them there lease of life back! 🌈 Rosie is a star and we love to see her so often 😍

Hayley our receptionist made a poster about heatstroke in dogs🔥. It’s very obvious that many dogs are being walked on far too hot days 🥵. Please do not walk your dog in the day during this week, especially if it’s a flat faced breed. It is too hot, as the weather is over 20 degrees for the rest of this week, dogs die from being walked on hot days. They cannot self regulate temperatures like we can, so suffer far more than we would.

We're not nasty, we're not bad, we are not even mean.
We are just a bit scared or nervous sometimes.
All you need to do is give us some space, and the world feels much less frightening sometimes.
When my human asks you to call your dog back, its not beccause they think your dogs bad or naughty either, We just like different things.
And they are just trying to help me feel safe.
Next time you see a dog wearing yellow, will you do something for me?
Just give them a little more space. It will mean the world to us 💛

Have you ever wondered what our dog building looks like inside??🤩 This is our dog only building which has two theatres, an X-ray room, two sets of kennel rooms, one with huge walk in kennels which many practices aren’t as lucky to have. We are bigger than we look at Hallam Vets! This is where we do all dog operations and where patients stay with us. We relentlessly clean and organise, so our theatres are sterile and safe. We have lots of top notch equipment that helps keep our patients safe 🐶 We are proud of our facilities we offer and work tirelessly to keep on improving our practice🙌🏻

It is now compulsory for all owned cats in England to be microchipped, making it more likely that lost or stray pet cats are reunited with their owners and returned home safely.

This includes cats that usually only stay indoors.

All keepers must ensure their cat is microchipped before they reach 20 weeks of age and their contact details stored and kept up to date in an approved pet microchipping database.

5 days until your cat must be microchipped by law. Please call and contact the practice if your cat is still not microchipped 📞

Attention cat owners! 🐱

WARM WEATHER UPDATE for next week!
Flat faced dogs such as frenchies, bulldogs, shih -tzu etc… are VERY susceptible to heat stroke. Heatstroke does causes death, we have seen patients die after a hot walk. While all dogs are susceptible, flat faced dogs walked in 18+ degrees can easily become susceptible to heat stroke as they have compromised airways. If you have a flat faced breed on warm days do not walk your dog ☀️

❗️NATIONAL DOG SURVEY❗️It massively helps the fabulous Dogs Trust when you fill in this short survey to gather statistics 📊

🥳 Thank you to to 180,000+ dog owners and lovers who have given us their views in our National Dog Survey!

There's still time to take part - and you don't need to own a dog to fill it in! It takes just a few minutes and is the largest study of dogs and their owners which will help us to understand how we can support them and help give more dogs a better life 💛

Findings from past surveys have enabled us to launch a Behaviour Support Line which has supported 8,000 owners, serve up 1 million dog meals to furry friends in need and discounted training classes for over 500 dogs.

Take the survey ➡️ https://www.dogstrust.org.uk/about-us/what-we-do/national-dog-survey

15… kittens needing homes!! Where do we sign?? 🏡😻

Are you looking for an adorable addition to your family? Look no further, for we have fifteen perfect little kittens looking for new homes!

They are all such adorable bundles of joy, and in coming up for 8 weeks old, they are ready to steal your heart and head off to their new families! As is typical of their age, they are very curious little creatures, full of energy as they explore every nook and cranny of their surroundings. They are all very playful kittens who enjoy batting around toys. They are very interactive and so much fun to be around.

But, as adorable as they are, they are still very young and are still learning about the world. They will need families who will give them the patience to build up their positive experiences around new things and environments as they grow!

Do you think that you could be the one to give one, or maybe two, of these kittens their forever home? Or maybe one of our adult cats that are patiently awaiting new homes?

You can find all the details, and apply, on our website here:

Want your pet to live longer? ♥️ Wellbeing clinics help to do just that! 😍 By discovering diseases that many senior pets get through wellbeing clinics, means we can treat them sooner and give them time that they may not have had otherwise. These tests can pick up on kidney disease, liver disease, blood cell abnormalities, high blood pressure the list goes on ! With early treatment we can often offer a better prognosis. The test involves a blood pressure, a urine sample and a blood sample. All for just £85. We are seeing a great increase in these clinics and don’t want you to miss out on this opportunity 🐶🐱
