Hello everyone. Unfortunately I have had to make the very difficult decision to close Martha's Groomies for health reasons (injuries and stress). I will remain partially open until the middle of May.
For those who have appointments booked in the next couple of months, I will be contacting you individually if I cannot carry out your dog's groom - but most of those appointments already made will be honoured.
I would like to say a very big thank you to all the beautiful doggies and their loyal owners who have come to me over the last four years and I am very sorry to be closing down.
I do have recommendations for other groomers if this helps anyone - please message me for details.

UPDATE : I’m now out of hospital following surgery under general anaesthetic and five days’ worth of antibiotics via a drip. I am definitely going to be off a good while. The salon will still be open on certain days, and my lovely colleague Nicki (who usually works at the salon on Tuesdays and Thursdays) has offered some extra availability to help with the cancelled appointments in October. Thank you everyone for your understanding 🙏🏼🙏🏼 ###

So sorry anyone who has an appointment with me in the next few days - I am in hospital following a “work related incident” - some bites which got infection in them very quickly. The wounds are on my right index finger so grooming will be impossible until they have healed. I will contact you individually to rearrange. Many apologies xx

In the next few days, I will be contacting everyone who had to cancel and rebooking from 20th July as I will be able to drive again from that date 👍👍

I am so sorry to report that following a mini stroke in my eye, I’m closing the salon for a month as I need to rest, attend hospital and doctor check ups and also I can’t drive. I will be contacting everyone individually who have appointments with me for July. Again, many apologies for this xx

So today was Bedlington day at Crufts. It was also Bedlington day at Martha’s Groomies!! Hamish and Murdo first , then Indie the bedlington x Italian greyhound.

Please note - I’m reducing my days to three a week - Wednesdays, Thursdays and alternate Fridays and Saturdays.

To cover the extra days so the salon is still open full time, please extend a warm welcome to Nicki Owens at Martha’s Groomies. Nicki is a qualified groomer and handler. I am excited to announce that Nicki will be taking bookings from Monday 13h February and will be working Mondays, Tuesdays and alternate Fridays and Saturdays.
Nicki will be working one to one with all appointments booked, like I do.
Initially, all bookings for Nicki will come through me but as we find our feet (and work out how to synchronise our diaries), we will both be contactable individually by phone.

Hi everyone, tomorrow is my last day before Christmas. I just wanted to take the opportunity to ask if anyone has surplus or unwanted, unopened dog or cat food that can be brought in to me for my friend Jane , who has for the past couple of months been collecting and distributing to pet shelters who are struggling to afford to feed the homeless pets. I attach photos of Jane’s flyers that are in my shop window.

I would like to thank all my lovely and caring dog owner customers for supporting me this year and I hope you all have a happy Christmas xx

This is Alfie, a 21 week old cavapoo , who came in for his puppy intro yesterday. He deserves a special mention as he was extremely calm, together, trusting and mature for his young age . I could swear he has been reincarnated from a groomer's model in a previous life.

Southport is going to be very hot Monday and Tuesday. I have rescheduled my appointments to very early morning and the rest to my usual day off next Monday. I have also been adapting some grooms to avoid blowing hot hairdryers on faces and feet. Dog safety comes first . Thank you everyone affected for being flexible 🙏🐾👍

My little buddy Herbert and I went to a master class yesterday with the Midland Bedlington Association and learned some really helpful tips for styling. I was soo proud of Herbert, he stood as still as a statue on a small portable coffee table, surrounded by lots of other bedlingtons, and he didn't need any persuading for anything during the whole day. A very proud mummy
