Scheduled closures of Sandbrook Rd in New Year for new power cable
There will be a temporarily closure to Sandbrook Road, Ainsdale in various phases, to allow Scottish Power Energy Networks to install a new 33kv cable.
Sandbrook Road will be split into Four section listed below.
Segars Lane to Unit Road 200m β 27.01.25 β 12.02.25
Unit Road to Staveley Road 320m β 12.02.25 β 07.03.25
Staveley Road to Orchard Lane 280m β 07.03.25 β 28.03.25
Orchard Lane to Meadow Lane 480m β 28.03.25 β 30.04.25
This is part of Scottish Power installing a new 14km 33 KV cable from Formby to Southport as an upgrade to the existing network.
Section 1: Segars Lane to Unit Road 200m
One way closure from Segars Lane in the direction of Unit Rd. Diversion will be via: Segars Lane, Liverpool Avenue, Unit Road.
Two letter drops to be done one by Camargue a second one done by DT Hughes.
Traffic Marshall to be on site 0700-1900 to assist residents in and out of driveways.
With it being a one-way closure, it will help the residents to gain easier access and egress to and from properties. Parking bays to be supplied with in the TM for residents. If any person is disabled, there will be allowances via road plates for them park closer to their property
Section 2: Unit Road to Staveley Road 320m
One way closure from Unit Road in direction of Staveley Road. Diversion will be via: Sandbrook Road, Limont Road, Liverpool Avenue, Liverpool Road, Staveley Road.

This area also includes Ainsdale St. John's Church of England School, a school drop off point will be created within the TM to allow parents or School buses to drop and pick up the children, they will also supply some parking bays for the teaching and support staff, there is also the church at the rear of the school were the staff members are able to park. Doing this under a closure gives a full control of the road space to prevent any bottle necking around school times which may happen under lights.
Section 3: Staveley Road to Orchard Lane 280m
One way closure from Staveley Road in the direction of Orchard Lane. Diversion will be via: Staveley Road, Liverpool Road, Orchard Lane.

Section 4: Orchard Lane to Meadow Lane 480m.
One way closure from Orchard Lane in the direction of Meadow Lane. Diversion will be via: Orchard Lane, Liverpool Road, Meadow Lane.

A meeting will be held with Mersey travel regarding bus stops and temporary bus stops to enable access for the community.
