How can you keep your dog safe this Halloween?
๐ฌ Keep trick-or-treat sweets out of reach

Here at In The Dog House Grooming, we have a safe and secure purpose-built salon with an enclosed garden which allows for some playtime.
We only permit one dog a time (unless from the same family) and the gated access to the side of the house allows you to bring the dog straight into the enclosed garden - meaning that we're able to remain socially distanced at all times.
It's so important that we look after the health and hygiene of our furry friends, and Lesley Hobbs is here to put your mind at ease about coming to the salon.

Although it depends on the terrier breed regular grooming should be done about once a month.

๐ Does your dog need a groom? Contact Lesley today for your FREE initial consultation...
Due to unforeseen circumstances (not COVID related) this little lady missed her last regular appointment. As a result we had to take her a lot shorter than normal. This dramatically changing her appearance which can be a shock to the owner.
Here at In the Dog House Grooming, the welfare of the dog always comes first. We will do our best to do what the owner requests but there are times when we have to make a decision to ensure the dog is comfortable.
On this occasion the owner was happy with the cut, It was a case of "do what is best for her, it will always grow back".
It is crucial that your dog gets used to being washed, brushed and visiting a groomer from an early age so they grow to enjoy the experiences.
We would recommend starting this process as soon as possible after your puppy has been full vaccinated if your dog is going to require regular full grooming.

With terriers, it's important to trim excess hair and bathe your dog approximately every 3 to 4 weeks.
Lesley has experience with a range of dog breeds, contact here today to discuss your dog grooming requirements...
We've had a busy September here at the salon with lots of different dog breeds coming through the salon doors including a:
๐ Labradoodle
๐ถ Beagle
๐พ French Bulldog
๐ Cocker Spaniel
๐ถ Springer Spaniel
๐พ Shih Ztu
๐ German Shepherd
Some only required a deShed, others the full works but itโs always important to ensure that we keep our furry friends happy and healthy๐พ
It's amazing how much fur you get out of a Beagle with its short, thick, tightly packed coat.
That is why it's important to brush the coat on a regular basis to remove shedded hairs from the base and also brush off loose hairs.
Safe to say this furry friend left the salon feeling alot lighter!
We recently welcomed a family of 3 lovely Cocker Spaniels to the salon. We usually only take one dog at a time due to Covid, but do make exceptions for multiple dogs from the same family...
Don't you just love getting feedback like this!
We love to pamper all our furry friends so why not contact Lesley today to discuss your requirements...
When should you start grooming your dog?
We recommend starting at 12-weeks of age, after your puppy has been fully vaccinated. In the very first grooming session your puppy will be introduced to a bath, blow drying, nail clipping, and slight trimming.
The sooner your furry friend is exposed to grooming the more relaxed, socialised and accepting they will become...
We had this lovely yellow labradoodle at the salon recently.
It's recommended that Labradoodles are professionally groomed every 6-8 weeks, but exactly how often really depends on the dog's coat type and the owner's preference for their appearance.
Top Tip: It's really important to brush and comb your Labradoodle between clippings to prevent matting.
It's important that Springer Spaniels get regular brushing sessions to work out the tangles and mats that occur from running around and having too much fun!
This furry friend visited recently and went home with a spring in its step and smelling fresh!

Dog grooming isn't just about having a good-looking pet; it's also an important part of caring for the health of your best friend.
If you notice that your dogโs coat is matted, itโs time to book a grooming session. Matted fur traps dirt, pests, and debris can make it harder for your furry friend to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Plus, matted and tangled hair really doesnโt look good.
Book a dog grooming session with Lesley today, and she'll get your dogโs coat looking healthy and attractive in no time at all...
Here's a happy little shih Tzu after it's latest visit to the salon.
Since a Shih Tzu's coat grows rather quickly, an experienced groomer is often the best person to execute trims, cuts, and create specialised hair styles.
It's also important to give them regular baths (approximately every 3 weeks) to keep their coat in tip top condition.

It's been a busy week with lots of furry friends through the doors of the parlour. Here's a before, during and after of a Labradoodle ๐
Many owners have their Labradoodles clipped two to four times a year depending on personal preference, lifestyle and curliness of the fleece. However, it's important to keep their coat healthy and recommend coming in for a bath and good brush every 4-6 weeks to de-shed any dead skin.
We've experience in all breeds of dogs so if you have any questions on grooming for your furry friend, get in touch ๐ฒ

Another new visitor to the salon at the weekend... Say Hi to this beautiful French Bulldog who benefited from a de-shed. It's amazing how much can come off - even for a small dog like this little one.
Top tip: It's so important with a French Bulldog to keep the folds of skin around the face clean and dry to avoid infections.
Watch this to the end... He looks so happy and content ๐๐
It's amazing what a good groom and some love and affection can do ๐ฅฐ
