11/2/25 Dorset

It's been a very worrying couple of days at the Dorset location.
Our oldest resident and our only Shetland was acting differently yesterday, although eating, she wouldn't leave the shelter at all and appeared lethargic. She was very wet I guess from being out it the rain Sunday night so I shut her in the shelter along with hay, water , chaff and some metacam, she didn't seem bothered about her friends at all and being quite frail I was worried that she'd get knocked over.
I woke up this morning and kept bursting into tears fearing that she hadn't made it through the night.

Today she was slightly brighter but still not herself, I'd booked a vet visit first thing this morning and Bella has an infection, although it's not known where it's coming from.

I will of course be keeping a close eye on Bella, especially as she's old, almost completely blind and frail.
I just hope she makes a full recovery 🙏

New project reveal 🐑

I've been thinking of replacing my head band that I use on dog walks and sheep duties so I started looking for one that could replace my old one with sheep on.
Then I stumbled across a lady that made herself one using her sheeps wool so I thought why not give it a go!

Here's mine using the last bit of Norah's plus some Buddy and Bow.

Before I start my next big project that is washed and ready to weave I'm taking a gamble at trying something completely different.
I'm still using Norah's fleece too, but the natural colours in it should look great 🐑

Another day another Norah.

I'm still trying to get through her fleece before I move onto the next one.
I have so many fleeces yet to use before shearing ths year I don't think it's even possible as I don't get on the loom much.

Norah is a Suffolk cross Herdwick I think and the natural colours in her fleece are beautiful.

My latest make was a Christmas gift for my mum who wanted a seat pad with some added pink using Blinky Belinda Hope's fleece finished with a dusky pink thread.
The pink was the last of the alpaca I had but if you're looking for some colour I can buy it in and add it.

Please remember that these are imperfect due to me practicing and never doing this before.

The "Pink Blinky"

A seat or pet pad made from Poll Dorset wool with a subtle mix of soft pink alpaca (not my own) finished with a dusky pink thread.

I've made for the recent auction running for my sheep sanctuary.

My aim is to make these in-between commissions for animal fundraisers online.

Here is Holly, Holly is a poll Dorset.

My very first sheep back in 1997 was a poll Dorset so they are a breed very close to my heart.

I'm currently still weaving a commission and then I'll be free if anyone wants anything, please get in touch.
If I don't have any orders I plan to weave some items for some special people as a gift and to waive some pet mats for animal auctions.

Happy Sunday everyone 🤍 what is everyone up to today?
I took this video a few weeks back, I was sat weaving at my home in Wells Somerset, my dogs were relaxed and I could hear the cathedral bells which is a small walk away from home.
