Sad news this morning. He was such an advocate for animal welfare. Let’s hope all his past dogs are now greeting him with waggy tails.

I like to think that the dogs of rainbow bridge, will be lining up to greet the wonderful Paul O’Grady today. Waiting to welcome a beautiful man who did so much good for their kind. I like to think he will be rolling around with dogs he lost, dogs he saved and dogs who simply heard of his kindness. Covered in fluff, smothered in kisses and loved, loved loved.

Thank you for making us laugh till we cried and for making a true difference this side.
You will be missed, never forgotten and always loved.

Rest in peace wonderful man.

DOG AGILITY CANCELLED Unfortunately due to the weather warning and forecasted heat the agility will not be going ahead as planned at the St. Peter’s festival. It’s just too hot for dogs to be out in never mind taking part in agility. Apologies for any disappointment this may bring but the welfare of the dogs must come first. We hope you enjoy everything else the festival has to offer, dog free, I’m sure it’s going to be a great event.
Hope you manage to keep your dogs cool and comfortable in this weather. If anyone would like to enquire about agility please feel free to drop me a message.
Best of luck to the organisers and all the other stall holders hope it’s a great event for you.

This week marks one year of training at the new venue. Thanks to all customers who have supported me this year.

Such a great illustration. Another thing to add is that good socialisation isn’t about making them excited to see everyone. But about these things becoming normal and everyday. So that they are comfortable around them. Comfortable enough to ignore them.

This is a good illustration of puppy socialization needs, shared from Good as Gold Training, but I would also add that all of the listed exposure and experience needs to feel *safe* for the puppy. If s/he is nervous, tentative, or fearful the fear should be handled by backing off a little and reintroducing very slowly and with lots of praise, food and patience. Sometimes, for the sake of "socialization", owners push their puppies too far and too fast, and it can backfire. Good socialization requires that we "read" our puppies and help them feel safe as they navigate the sounds, textures, people and animals in their new world.

With firework night coming up at the weekend there are things we can do to help our pets if they don’t like them. This is just one of the things that can help.

Don’t forget I do all sorts of training not just agility. Just the other day I did a pre- puppy session for a family who were soon to pick up their new bundle and wanted to know what to do from the get go- it’s never to early to start.
Today we did a ‘calm dogs’ workshop for agility dogs to learn to be calm around agility.
And lots lots more.

It’s going to be a scorcher today. Keep your dogs cool.

With the weather being so hot today and temperatures expected to rise over the next few days, here are some steps pet owners should take to ensure your animals stay cool, happy and healthy...

•Avoid walking your dog during the hottest parts of the day, early morning or late evening is best and keep the exercise low energy to avoid the risk of heatstroke 🚶🏼‍♂️🐶
•Do not leave animals in the car, an open window is not sufficient 🚗
•Cats can get heat stroke as well so ensure they have ample water supply and access to cool shaded areas 🐱
•Animals with white fur are at risk of burning so apply pet safe suncream☀️
• Keep small furries hutches clean and check their bums are clean too to avoid flystrike🐰
•Keep water out for the wildlife visiting your garden they need it to drink and bathe.🐾 💧
•Horse and livestock owners please make sure once again that there is water available. Horses can drink up to 50 litres of water a day so a sufficient water supply is vital.🐴
Overall enjoy the good weather and keep you and your pets safe!!😊
