Grouse - livelihood
Grouse shooting is vital for the economic health of rural upland communities.
Spending on grouse shooting has a substantial ripple effect, with 60 to 80% of the money spent benefiting the local or regional economy.

Grouse - preservation
Heather management, including controlled cool burns, can be essential for preserving the UKβs largest carbon reservoir and helps mitigate the risk of wildfire.
Gamekeepers and land owners who are involved in grouse shooting work tirelessly to rejuvenate the landscape. They restore, re-vegetate and re-wet peatlands, create firebreaks and maintain infrastructure.

Grouse - biodiversity
Most of the UKβs uplands peatland is managed for grouse shooting. This landscape is teeming with biodiversity, including many species such as the curlew, lapwing, oystercatcher, ring ouzel, and redshank.
Land and habitat management by gamekeepers helps protect these key species, especially during critical periods like nesting.
