Our dogs at Christmas.

Hudson arrived with his 'brother' after spending months in a pound. When we found out they were elderly we couldn't let them spend their final days there.His brother unfortunately has to be put to sleep due to advanced secondary cancer. The days that followed were heartbreaking to watch as Hudson searched and pined for his friend. As the weeks passed Hudson fell into a routine and settled. At nearly 9 years old Hudson is finding it difficult to find a family to call his own. His age is not the only barrier as his 'look' seems to scare people off. Some people love Old English Bulldogs but seemingly the majority don't.
For the record we love his squishy, wrinkly face😊

Our dogs at Christmas

Toby now 7 years old had been rehomed a few years back by another rescue. We were asked if we could take him as Toby had snapped as his owner and the rescue had no space to take him back. Straight away we noticed a discharge from his red raw ears. What we didn't know was that Toby had ongoing ear infections since the age of two and he had a 21 page vet history detailing it! After a visit to the vet we learned Toby was antibiotic resistant and after further evaluation double ear canal removal surgery seemed his only choice. After further discussion with his vet we decided to try one last thing, a combination of drugs and specialised food and this thankfully seems ro be working. Toby loves to be taken on walks and loves a wee spin in the car but isn't fond of children or cats. He can walk with other dogs but couldn't live with one. With all these things combined it has proven difficult to find him a home. But as the saying goes 'there's a lid for every pot' we know the lid for Tobys pot is out there somewhere we just need to find it ❤️

The season of Christmas, the gift that keeps on giving but not of gifts we were hoping to receive.
Pups thrown in behind the gate under the darkness of a cold, wet night while we slept. Hours they must've been there,soaked to the skin and scared. Just babies, taken from the home they knew to a strangers yard and discarded like rubbish. They have now been wormed, have food in their bellies and a warm bed.
We have little funds as we can't fundraise due to trying to obtain charity status. Our dogfood supply is at an all time low and our volunteers who are few are absolutely knackered with the amount of dogs already in our care.
If this is a sign of what 2025 is going to be like with people abandoning animals on our premises we are absolutely done for.
