After finally sorting through all the photos, we have finally picked the best, hopefully everyone is in their somewhere!
We awarded best turned out to horses and riders for each class. The standard of turnout among the starter stakes was amazing . Ponies were all fully plaited , children turned out beautifully and it was a very difficult decision to pick the winner. It eventually went to the Tinney family from Castlefin and their pony Barbie.
Our little competitors really put the bigger classes to shame with the turn out of their ponies and could definitely teach some of the older competitors a thing or too! Watching the little ones and the care and attention they took with their mounts should give equestrianism in the North West a great future.
Moving up to the bigger classes , a large contingent from the Dungloe area supported the show , and the Green family were regularly in the Rosettes.Dara Mcloone with her very promising 148cm Connemara mare gave us a jump off against Courtney Green in the 90cm , she put in a great effort finishing second to Courtney's experienced mount. Georgia Dilworth from Fermanagh was impeccably turned out and took home a best turned out prize and rosette and also a second placed rosette from the jump off! With lots of Easter eggs , rosettes and prize money given out we hope everyone enjoyed the show as much as we did , thank you to everyone who supported us, we very much appreciate it!

Little Heaven, the little TB stallion introduced to Connemara to add quality to the native pony mares, and who produced Dundrum and Stroller as another benefit of that experiment. Of his time - would he pass inspection today? Hardly - but thank (little) heavens for him.

Easter Egg hunt with a difference!!!
Hunt for the little Easter chicks on ponies along our trek route and bring it with you back to the stables to exchange it for an Easter Egg and goody bag!!!!
Great fun for all ages , booking essential. Egg hunt lasts approx 30 mins. Cost per child €15 call 087 0909665 for booking . Easter Saturday , 3 slots available . 11am and 3:30pm limited places

Due to family bereavement and adverse weather conditions , tonight's training show has been cancelled . Apologies for any inconvenience caused. We will be running as normal next Tuesday night. Weekly Indoor Training shows for horses and ponies starting next week on Tuesday 10th February @ 7pm sharp.
Classes will start at cross poles and work up. Ideal if you need to brush up on your or your horses technique ! Rosettes for double clears !!

Four of the Tir chonaill ponies were in action on Saturday at the Donegal Harriers childrens meet in Stranorlar.
Great to see the little ones getting a taste of hunting and learning correct Hunt etiquette . Of course the ponies never put a hoof wrong and were impeccably behaved ! The children put everything they learned in their weekly riding lessons into practise and made us all proud!

As the dust has settled now on the New Year , Anton and I would like to Thank all our past and present customers for the huge support that we have received since opening in April. We deeply appreciate it and again a heartfelt thanks to you all. we finished the year off with a Christmas Show and a festive fun day for the kiddies. It was lovely to see familiar faces aswell as new friends enjoying the festive show and we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did having you there.
With big entries in the starter stakes and up to the 80cm, we had plenty of double clear rounds. In the 1.10cm our only double clear went to Karl Kee.Amy McGarvey of Malin to Mizen head Charity ride fame was unfortunate to have one down to keep her out of the ribbons in that class also. Amy must of used up her luck as she won not only the Facebook competition for free entry and goody bag but she also took home the Equine Christmas hamper too!
The South Donegal Pony Club turned out in force to support us both on the ground and on horseback.They are also currently accepting new members for 2015 .
We will be running training shows every Tuesday night beginning the middle of January , dates and times will be confirmed in a later post.

An amazing photo of Arbitrageur at Laytown today. Rumor has it a bit of seaweed touched his hoof.

Nobody (human or equine) was harmed, and the horse went onto finish seventh.
