Another Rehoming push for our lovely Shadow 💝 She has come along even more in the last few weeks again. We thought we would share an updated photo of her progress (photo in the comments), how beautiful is she looking?
If you would like to welcome Shadow into your home, and make her world complete, please call us on 051-841432 or email [email protected]
Happy Friday all ⭐️

Can we please take a moment for this girl's beautiful, soulful eyes ?...

💗 Special Rehoming Appeal for Shadow 💗

Shadow is our senior Collie girl looking for her new home. Shadow came into our care with a skin condition, but she is now doing great & really coming along well. Her coat still has some growing to do, but that will come with time.

Shadow has been a complete character since she came into care. Honestly, we are all absolutely mad about her & she REALLY has made a huge impression on everyone. She is unique in her own special way. She is soulful, she is loving. She is beautiful & she would make a wonderful addition to light up a new home.

When you see Shadow, you see her ball. They come hand in hand. It's an understatement to say she's obsessed 🤣

Shadow can be an only dog in her new home where she can get lots of attention, but she is also very good with other dogs. In saying this, her toys take priority & sometimes she's selective with who she shares them with!

A home check & adoption fee will apply for Shadows adoption. If you're interested in welcoming her into your home, please call our office on 051 841432. If no one is available to take your call, please leave your name, contact details & reference Shadow. We will get back to you. Alternatively, you can email us at [email protected] or fill out our online adoption form. Link below:

🐈Special Re-home Request for Tilly 🐈

*More photos in the comments*

We are urgently looking for an outdoor home for our lovely 6 month old jet black kitten (Tilly 💕) in the video below. She is neutered, vaccinated, flea and worm dosed. Tilly came in a number of months ago and we thought she may turn a corner regarding her tameness, but it just didn't happen, despite huge efforts. She needs an outdoor home, where she can be kept in (somewhere safe) for a number of weeks until it's safe to leave her out once she knows her new environment. An outdoor farm/barn type would be perfect, but we're also okay with her going to a home in the countryside where it's quiet enough and she'll have somewhere safe for the first couple of weeks to acclimatize herself to the new environment. She really needs to find her own place. Tilly originally came in with her mother and siblings from a younger litter. They have all been reserved to new homes. Tilly is still waiting... Please read her bio below from her current minder. Currently in the care of The Purrfect Purr Rehoming. We are also okay with people contacting us here in the office on 051 841432 or emailing us at [email protected] to express interest. You can also DM The Purrfect Purr page at their Facebook link below.

The Purrfect Purr Rehoming : We are urgently seeking an outdoor home 🏡 for Tilly , the beautiful black panther. She is the daughter of Belle from a previous litter. She has been with us a number of weeks and unfortunately has not tamed. She would be much happier in an outdoor home , farm/barn/yard . In exchange for food and shelter she'll keep rodents at bay.

Tilly is only 6 months old and has been neutered , vaccinated and treated for parasites. She's perfectly healthy. She gets on really well with other cats . Tilly would need to be kept confined for a number of weeks until she's adjusted to the move. Please share to help find Tilly a happy outdoor home 🏡 😊 ❤️

🩵 Sparky - the smallest member of our shelter looking for her forever home 🩵

This beautiful little dog is a 2 and a half year old Chihuahua x Jack Russell (just look at that face).

*Check out the comments for a little video of Sparky enjoying play time*

What can we say about her ? Well...she is a pure lap dog, loves to be around you & LOVES to play. She's one of those dogs that just melts into your arms when you pick her up. She gets on well with other dogs at the shelter & is very much loved by her minders.

Sparky is also good on the lead & really is such a dote. We are looking for an indoor only home for Sparky.

A home check & adoption fee will apply for Sparky's adoption. If you're interested in welcoming her into your home, please call our office on 051 841432. If no one is available to take your call, please leave your name, contact details & reference "Sparky". We will get back to you. Alternatively, you can email us at [email protected] or fill out our online adoption form. Link below:

This morning ISPCA Waterford and Waterford City & County Dog Shelter received a call from a member of the public about a dog who was stuck in between a concrete wall & fencing in Tramore.

Bingo had been missing since yesterday evening & had somehow wedged himself in between both the wall & fence. His owner had been frantically searching high & low for him. He was so nervous given the circumstances, but completely unharmed. Thankfully, a kind member of the public spotted him, & had reached out for help.

Bingo was taken out safely & as luck would have it, his owner's daughter, Ciara, had posted on social media that he was missing & they were so worried.

Bingo was later reunited & to say he was delighted to be back home & in the arms of his owner really was an understatement. His eyes lit up when he saw him 🩵

We really want to say a sincere thank you to the wonderful lady who reached out initially to the dog warden service this morning & a huge thanks to other members of the public present today with offerings of help. We are all delighted for a happy ending in this case & delighted Bingo is back home where he belongs 🩵

About me:

Meet Corky, a Charming Three-Legged Wonder!
Looking for an intelligent, loyal companion with a heart of gold? Look no further than Corky! This charming Collie may have three legs, but his spirit is boundless.
Three-legged collies can make fantastic pets! They adapt very well to their disability and still enjoy all the things other dogs do. Some information to help understand Corky’s needs:
Resilience and adaptability: Three-legged dogs adjust remarkably well and can be quite active.
Collie temperament: Collies are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and eagerness to please.
Unique personality: Every dog is an individual, and the collie's three-leggedness can be part of its quirky charm.
Special Considerations:
Three-legged dogs are incredibly adaptable, but Corky may need some minor adjustments to suit his disability or avoiding overly strenuous activity.
Don't let his three legs fool you, Corky has all the love and loyalty a four-legged friend can offer. Could he be your perfect match?

🩷 Our lovely Betty is on the lookout for her new forever home. 🩷

Betty came into our care a number of weeks ago and had to be shaved completely as she was matted and her skin was very inflamed and sore due to a skin condition. She is now off all medication for her skin and her hair is growing back nicely.

Betty is a 10-month-old Maltese. She is a very lively puppy who loves playing with other dogs.
She is great with children and loves company. She loves her walks and happily walks along on her lead.
Betty will need a secure garden and would be best suited to a home with no cats.

Betty is neutered and will be fully vaccinated before going to her new home.

If you’re interested in adopting Betty please contact:

The ISPCA welcomes the recent announcement from the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), Charlie McConalogue T.D, to move to ban the use of electronic shock collars on dogs and cats that are operated by hand-held remote controls.

The ISPCA welcomes the recent announcement from the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), Charlie McConalogue T.D, to move to ban the use of electronic shock collars on dogs and cats that are operated by hand-held remote controls.

The Minister sought and received advice from his companion animal advisory group (ACCAW), the ISPCA is a member of this Group, and he listened carefully to the concerns raised recognising that some of the small number of dog owners, who currently use these shock collars, expressed worry about controlling their dogs if they stop using them. For that reason, the Minister intends to permit those who currently use shock collars on their dogs to continue to do so, but only for those dogs. Importantly, these pet owners will need to register their dog’s identity with DAFM, exempting that dog from the new rules. As such, the new ban will then protect puppies and dogs who have not previously had shock collars used on them.

The ISPCA has always been opposed to the use of any negative reinforcement (aversive) training methods to control companion animals and believes that positive reinforcement (reward based) methods should be used instead. Negative reinforcement methods are based on the principle of applying an unpleasant stimulus to eliminate or prevent an unwanted behaviour. Such methods or training techniques include:

1. Electric shock collars, including:
• Those activated remotely to stop an unwanted behaviour.
• Those used in fencing systems, and which are activated when the animal reaches a boundary.
• Those used as anti-barking devices, activated when a dog barks
2. Choke chains
3. Prong collars
4. Physical force / Coercion (e.g. hitting / forcing into a position)
5. Use of citrus sprays which may cause distress in dogs
6. Use of high-pitched sonic devices which may cause distress to dogs

These techniques can inflict pain and involve punishment, fear or distress resulting in poor welfare.

Behavioural problems can be made worse and other behavioural problems emerge, as a result of such techniques, which have no place in modern companion animal training.

The ISPCA supports and advocates for positive (reward based) training and strongly encourages owners to properly train their pets using reward-based techniques.
