The Urban Dawg was initially set up by practicing Canine Behaviour Counsellor, Devisri Sarkar with an objective of creating an in-house behaviour observation facility where dogs with behavioural 'issues' get to live in a home environment just like they do at their own homes. This enabled her to closely interact with the pet parents to understand their pets home setup and replicate the same in her

home environment so as to identify triggers in behaviour and correct them or educate pet parents on what to do differently. A passionate pet parent herself, Devisri soon evolved The Urban Dawg into a homestay where pets came to reside comfortably and meet other pets and people while their parents went on vacation. This gave the dogs a safe, open and positive environment to interact with other dogs (including her own 4) under supervision. As a result, both resident and training dogs inevitably open up to reveal personalities and traits – some positive and some not-so-positive during their stay, all of which are a study in canine behaviour duly chronicled by Devisri. Pet parents get regular updates on the well-being and behavioural aspects of their pets through Devisri’s FB page https://www.facebook.com/theurbandawg and may choose to avail of the various facilities offered in the future as below. The Urban Dawg is an initiative pioneered by Devisri Sarkar with the core objective of educating pet parents on the behaviour, dietary needs and communication patterns of their individual pets through audio-visuals and consultations, so they can integrate better into the family and also have a safe happy homestay while the pet parents are away. The Urban Dawg is unique in its concept as a co-parenting model for pets in terms of behaviour correction, dietary advice, boarding and day-care. It is also about education, awareness and knowledge sharing. It is not just a Boarding Kennel!

A sudden heavy downpour for a short while, stresses the dogs completely... we needed an outlet for the restlessness.

so we went up to the terrace which had dried up under a watery sun while the boys cleaned up the mud n leafy mess downstairs....
A bit of a treat search with dehydrated sardine bits got the hyper puppies like to calm down... , of course decided hu***ng was the way to expend his energy and patiently dealt with that madness.

The older dogs decided they would have nothing to do with the pups..... that in itself kept them quieter by pacing around and sniffing lol

Sometimes, calming down just needs open space and a cool clean breeze

This is kinda what we do with our companion dogs at home!!
Our dogs are inter-species family, coexisting with us just like we do with our family members.
They need their space, their choices and respect alongside, love, interaction and companionship.....

If we learn to just respect that pur dogs are adults of a different species, half the "behavior issues" would have sorted.

#OurHero at TUD

Well, we all know dogs are special....and today , being International Dog's Day, is even more special.... ...and then, to top it all up, we have an ultra special Doggo #Hero with us here at TUD....AND SO ANY SPECIAL S warranted special attention too. Why is Hero extra special? Because he is a survivor par excellence. Having started life off with extreme trauma/assault at the hands of humans, which resulted in a burst eyeball and a permanently damaged leg, not to mention a scarred mind, this dog had the strength of will and spirit to trust his beautiful humans again. When #Hero decides to trust, love and approve of a human on #InternationalDogsDay, its cause for celebration :))))
