No Savvy Racing runners this week at Riccarton for Cup week but good to see owners on course today showing of the brand with merchandise.
Hopefully they will have to book extra luggage to get the winnings home.

3yo filly Clear Conscience (Alabama Express x Inner Peace) has her first race day start tomorrow at Te Aroha for the Savvy Racing "Turbo" syndicate.
She has got away to a good start with the barrier draws and jumps from gate 2.
On the back of 5 very nice trials, jockey Matt Cartwright will be looking to have her handy in the running.

Skipping returns to racing at Te Aroha on Wednesday (track is currently a Soft 6) in the NZB Mega Maiden over 1200m.
The Rip Van Winkle mare looked smart when finishing second in her recent trial.
English jockey George Rooke is in the saddle and she has drawn the perfect barrier 3 gate.

Khando steps up in distance to 2100m tomorrow at Te Rapa in the Waikato Draught Maiden 2100.
Following 3 solid runs leading up to Te Rapa the Mongolian Khan mare should relish the extra distance.

Khando hopefully starts at Pukekohe tomorrow in the TAB NZ 1600.
The Mongolian Khan filly is use to abandoned meetings following a recent Te Aroha abandoned meeting and Pukekohe last Wednesday.
Billy Jacobson stays on board and the wide barrier draw is likely to be an advantage.

Savvy Racing launches our latest syndicate on Saturday when LET'S DANCE (Preferment x Happy Feet) heads to what is likely to be a heavy track at Hastings and lines up in the Sign Central 2yo over 1100m.
The c**t has had two solid trials and Lisa Allpress will be looking to position him perfectly from barrier 5.

Take two for Khando (Mongolian Khan x Evens) tomorrow at Te Aroha in the Travel Advocates Maiden 1400.
After a solid 5th placing first up, Billy Jacobson is back in the saddle.
The earlier races should give an indication if the wide barrier draw of 8 is an advantage.

Hopefully the sun has been out and the wind drying the track at Pukekohe for Thatsallshewrote when she lines up tomorrow in the Skycity Horizon 1600.
Having drawn in the carpark this could be a huge advantage in the likely heavy conditions.

Clear Conscience (Masa Hashizume) has her first start tomorrow for the Savvy Racing Turbo syndicate at Matamata in the J Swap Stockfoods 2yo maiden over 1200m. The Alabama Express filly has looked smart winning her last 2 trials and has drawn nicely at barrier 2.

Skipping (Kozzi Asano) steps up in distance to 1400m in the Entain/NZB Insurance maiden at Matamata. The Rip Van Winkle filly hit the line hard in her first start for fourth and an inside barrier draw should have her handy in the running.

Sassy Merlot (Lisa Allpress) is looking for 3 wins in a row at Riccarton in the Bush Inn Tavern Open sprint over 1200m.
Force of Law (Kelly Myers) lines up at Te Rapa in the Listed Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre 2yo Stakes over 1400m.

Savvy Racing's latest team member Skipping (Rip Van Winkle x Zaballet) kicked of her career today at Matamata over 1200m.
Barrier drawn on top of the Kaimai hills, jockey Kozzi Asano had to settle back in the running but started to work his way through the field, then around it to finish a close fourth.
Great start to her career.

SASSY MERLOT SUPREME.

Sassy Merlot was dominant today winning the Listed Daphne Bannan Memorial Great Easter Stakes at Riccarton.
Slow out of the gates, jockey Lisa Allpress positioned her perfectly in the running.
It would be fair to say there were some worried owners at the half way stage but the Burgundy mare simply blew them of the racetrack.
Congrats to the owners, racing can test you at times but today is reward for the faith we have all had in her. Also great reward for Pam Gerard for making the call to head South.
Massive day also for Savvy Racing, not only picking up another Black Type win, but also the first time we have had a horse go back to back wins.
Break out the Merlot, enjoy the win, she is back.

Sassy Merlot will be looking to go back to back tomorrow at Riccarton in the Listed Daphne Bannan Memorial Great Easter Stakes over 1400m.
Her last start win at Ashburton was outstanding and had everyone including the race caller on edge.
Up against tougher competition this week down South, the same tactics will have most of this field under the pump and gasping for air with 100m to go.
Finally we get the prime barrier draw of 4 and Lisa Allpress should be able to dictate the pace.

KABOOM
Sassy Merlot returned to the winners circle at Ashburton today winning the Agraforum Growing Innovation 1600m in style. Jockey Niranjan Parmar had the field under the pump at the 600m mark and said "catch me if you can".
Outstanding ride.
The Burgundy filly has settled in well down South and clearly loves the cooler weather.
It would be fair to say there will be a Merlot or two drunk tonight.

Sassy Merlot may be feeling the chill of the south tonight as she prepares for a start in the Johnny Fresh Darfield & Yaldhurst sprint at Riccarton tomorrow.
Jasmine Fawcett is back in the saddle and the Burgundy mare has been given the visitors barrier draw of 8.

In form jockey Masa Hashizume jumps on board Thatsallshewrote tomorrow at Trentham in the Harrison's Flooring Premier 1600.
It looks like rain is coming so that will suit the Wrote mare perfectly.
Terribly unlucky in recent starts, the roomy Trentham track should be right up her alley.
Jumping from barrier 1, Masa will have options to place her in the running. There might be a little Tiger sitting on his shoulder as well.
