Unfortunately I am still a few weeks away from being able to take on clients horses again, fencing to complete and a driveway to install…

But I am so thankful to own this beautiful piece of land 🥰🥰

So appreciative of everyone who’s helped out! It really takes a village, and I’m beyond thankful for the support we’ve received 💕

My biggest supporter 🕊️🤍

All those years ago when my first pony was bought (Hokey Pokey - pictured), I’m not sure you had any idea where horses would take me.

It’s taken me around the world, Australia, England, France, Spain, Portugal and Morocco 🐎💨 as well as having gained national titles, and international placings, before settling back home and throwing myself head first into being self employed - working with horses of course.

I know the show horses weren’t your favourite, but we bonded over racing, and you were so proud that I was back riding trackwork and had started doing fast work again.

Although not “horsey”, you were so incredibly supportive, including feeding my horses morning and night while I went away on holiday for six weeks 💕 and you’d throw a rug on if you really needed to.

It’s going to be strange not being able to share all the stories and achievements and milestones with you. But I thank you for everything you’ve done for me, and for pushing me to be the best I can.

Rest easy Dad, I will miss you 🕊️🤍

To my loved clients, friends and family, who’ve been nothing but supportive in the last three years, despite my uncanny ability to injure myself doing the most mundane things.

Unfortunately there has been a significant medical event affect one of my closest family members, it’s been a very challenging time but it’s shown me just how loved and supported we are 💕

On top of this, we have been given two weeks’ notice to vacate our current premises. As most of you may be aware, we have purchased land, but there is a lot of work to do to get it set up ready to take clients (plus there’s a lack of house for us humans too 😂), but, we are determined, and we will make it work.

So, bear with me while I navigate the next few weeks.

If you have a horse or pony booked in with me and would like more info, don’t hesitate to flick me a message.

Thank you 💕

“It gives me great pleasure to write this for Madison as an honest account of her services and business MK Equitation.

I very carefully researched the person I believed would give my special pony Harvey the best start possible in his ridden career.

Every corner I poked in I kept coming up with Madi. Having watched Madi produce several youngsters over the past years I was convinced she was the one.

Madi proved me correct, she did a very professional job and at every step of the process had Harvey’s best interest at the fore. Madi was intuitive to Harvey’s needs and always kept me informed with photos and videos. Always been open to visits to view progress.

I highly recommend Madi to you all to start your young ponies and horses.

Sue Morrish”

Pictured is Harvey at his first ridden show (Selwyn Equestrian Centre’s Winter Inhand & Ridden Show), with just five weeks under saddle total. He was an absolute dream, and didn’t put a foot out of place, winning all of his classes and taking out champion.
He then took super young jockey Tayla Hamilton for a ride - again he was just perfect and Tayla did a super job piloting him.

It is always a pleasure and privilege to have such quality animals in for training 🦄

Susan came to visit her beautiful boy Sunny who is here for starting under saddle today 😇

I threw her in the deep end showing her how to long rein then setting her off on her own but I think she enjoyed it 😉

Oakley has been here not quite two weeks, his mum Emma ran into a few problems with him so he came to me to get him back on the right track. He had a real issue with going forward so I spent a lot of time moving his feet and sending him forward on the ground, today was only ride three for him here (after a turbulent first ride 😂), and Emma hopped on and was able to get him going with no funny business 🐒 it is so rewarding seeing ponies and horses go so well not just for me, but for their owners too 💕

Sunny has had a few days meandering around in the long reins, first attached to the halter, then progressing to the bit.

Today was his first day going up a gear and being properly driven forward, and man am I excited to sit in this one!!

“Do not judge riding on the bit by poll flexion alone”

This statement resonates quite considerably with me, “on the bit” is more than poll flexion, it’s about tracking up, activating and using all the correct muscles in the horses body, assisting the horse in becoming stronger, being able to work correctly over the back, lifting/engaging the core and working into the hand - minimising the risk of injury, and increasing your chance of happy horse.

The first picture is my first session with this pony who’s here for schooling, who, initially was lacking forward and not tracking up, and bracing rather than lifting her stomach and softening over the back. She was a bit “dull” and leaning on the contact.
The second image was a few days later, where you can see she is tracking up much better, she’s lifted her stomach and is much rounder throughout her topline, more open through her shoulder and underneath with her hind.

Her head is not tied in a fixed position in either of these images, however in the second image if she leans on the rope it gives a harder/sharper feel, which encourages her get off the bit pressure and use her own muscles - you see the loop/slack in the rope. For safety measures this is attached to a piece of twine, and I would not recommend this for a horse with a sensitive mouth.
