***Frankie Webb lessons***
To help Louise Duncan on her Paralympics in Paris journey, Vanessa Connell has arranged for Frankie Webb from Webb Equestrian Specialists to come to Masterton Solway Showgrounds on the 30 June 2024 for lessons.

Lessons are $75 for 45 minutes and a ground fee of $15.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the equine community to support Louise‘s journey.

For those who are not familiar with Frankie Webb - Frankie has ridden and trained riders in dressage for many years. Frankie is also an ESNZ coach and rode at grand prix level last season.

A reminder that we have our rally this weekend 16th of June, 9.00 - 1.00pm

We have a couple of cancellations for riders who may want to ride the A tests before a judge. Time slots are:

10.00am
10.15am
10.30am

Bookings are essential and are 15 minutes each.

You are also able to use the large arena for schooling during this time.

If you could please sign in at Ann's white truck on arrival, pay your fee and collect your back number, thank you.

Please note the A&P ground levy has increased from 1 June and is now:
$15 per horse for members
$20per horse for non-members.

All horses and ponies must be in yards and not tied to trucks or floats.

Due to Health and Safety requirements you may only ride during the specified times of 9.00 - 1.00pm. If you are riding outside of these times you must make a separate booking with the Masterton A&P before Sunday.

***Cooper Oborn Masterclass Update*** 19 May
9.30-11.45am at Masterton A&P Showgrounds

"Warming Up for your Dressage Test"

Just a reminder that Dressage Wairarapa is bringing you Cooper's Masterclass this Sunday. The focus of the Masterclass is warming up a horse for competition, particularly looking at what works when a horse is being hot or when it's being on the lazier side so you can really enhance your performance in the arena!

Cooper will discuss the key elements of the warmup; two horses and riders will demonstrate a warmup routine; followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion.

Dressage Wairarapa Financial Members - Free of charge
Non-Members -$10 per person

Please bring Masterclass payment, a chair, drink, food and warm clothing.

All participants (including financial members) must register at the Pony Club Shed between 8.50 – 9.20am and be seated ready for a 9.30am start. A sticker will be issued to confirm registration and payment. Non-members can pay by cash or bank transfer when registering. Bank transfers are to be made to Dressage Wairarapa account 02-0688-0037185-02 with payment receipt shown when registering.

If you wish to join Dressage Wairarapa and benefit from the complimentary Masterclass, please email Ann for the membership form. Membership payment to be made by Friday 17 May. Contact Ann at [email protected]

The large arena is available from 10am - 1pm for those riders not attending the Masterclass, or riders who wish to ride after the Masterclass. Rally registration and payment available in Ann's truck from 9.45am (once the Masterclass is underway).

Did anybody lose a near new white saddle blanket on the way home from the Ribbon day on Sunday? One was found on the side of the road in Carterton when a lady was out walking her dog approximately 4pm. Shes thinks it may have dropped off the back of a ute or possibly been left to dry in the front of a float

Dressage Wairarapa is delighted to bring you a special Masterclass with Cooper Oborn, professional Grand Prix rider and coach.

Cooper's Masterclass will focus on "Warming up for your Dressage Test". Cooper will help you get the right warmup routine for you and your horse so you can really enhance your performance in the arena!

Hey all. Hope you are loving the photos.
Just putting out a friendly reminder that photos I upload onto Facebook or any social media platforms are NOT free to use. I, and many other photographers, spend hours photographing, downloading, editing, exporting and uploading photos. It sucks that people ignore the watermarks and proceed to screenshot / download and post them. The same goes for using an unpurchased photo to sell a horse. Once a photo is purchased you are free to do what you want with it!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped set up the arenas today. And a special thank you to the A&P who have just put new sand on the all-weather surface in readiness for the show - thank you it feels great :-)

Another stunning day is forecast for tomorrow. We've had a few scratchings come through late today, so will be looking to move times up for 2nd tests tomorrow where we can, particularly in the Intro Under 18, Prelim and Novice classes. Keep an eye on EE and the noticeboard for changes on the day.

***Update Ribbon Day 5 May***

The draw will be published later tomorrow so please let Ann know tonight of any changes. Also ensure you have booked and paid camping with your entry if staying on the grounds Saturday night as required by the A&P.

Rider Notes will be sent out by Wednesday. JKs will be there Sunday for your catering and JH Photography will be taking photos.

Arena set up will be 1pm...helpers appreciated! Arena famil confirmed in Rider Notes but likely 3.30 - 5.00pm or earlier start if enough helpers!!!

Note intro riders - we have created new classes 1000 and 1001 for under 18yr riders. Just checking why not showing on the public Evo Events page but will have sorted tomorrow! All intro classes in 40x20m arena in Presidents Oval (both walk trot tests).

Just a reminder that entries close this Thursday 25 April for our 5 May Ribbon Day. We are nearing maximum numbers so entries may close before Thursday. Please ensure you have paid your fees in full by Thursday or we may need to move you to the waiting list.

We are very excited to announce Cooper is running a Masterclass at our next rally 19 May! More details will be announced next week but put the date in your diary now!!

** Ribbon Day 5 May**

Entries are now open on EvoEvents for our Autumn Ribbon Day on 5 May 2024. Entries close 25 April or beforehand if maximum numbers are reached.

We will try to keep classes on the all weather surface so are likely to close off around 80 horses or ponies. Any entries not paid in full at the time entries close will be moved to a wait list so we encourage you to pay your entry when you enter.

All classes are non-graded from Introductory to Grand Prix. Show Levy discount applies to financial members for the new year starting 1 April. The membership form is available on EvoEvents, along with the show schedule.

So get those entries in and Autumn training underway :-)

Congratulations to our riders for some super results at the Bates NZ Dressage Championships last week! Well done everyone !!!!

**Rally - Sunday 7 April - 9am start (finish time tbc)**

We are delighted to have Andrea Raves coming along to our next rally on 7 April. If you would like a lesson with Andrea please contact Ann Webster on [email protected]

Lessons are $110 plus $10 ground fee ($15 ground fee non-members). Dressage Wairarapa will contribute $20 towards the lesson for members who are financial for the 2024/25 year starting 1 April 2024. Members receive discounted ground fees at rallies, show levies and fees for any clinics we hold during the year (Ann can send you the membership form when you book your lesson).

**Autumn Ribbon Day - 5 May **

And - put 5 May in your calendar for our Autumn Ribbon Day! We are only holding one Autumn show this season so make sure you get your entry in once they open on EvoEvents soon! Non-graded classes from Intro through to Grand Prix so something for everyone :-)
