If anyone knows of someone looking for a dog, this one is ready for adoption. Has been with Hands on Paws QT for a few months in rehabilitation & I couldn’t think of anyone better to be fostering him. 🐶♥️

We’ve had some great new additions to Fetch the Pet’s walks these past few weeks. We have Lola, Charlie, Flynn, Canti, Halo, Bear & Archie, Mila & Dougie, Pixie, Skye & Nyx 🐶🐕

They have fit right into our packs and love hanging out with their new doggy pals!

Today we had the lovely Maple join us for daycare, her and her family travelled down to Queenstown from Nelson for a holiday and today they wanted to do some Queenstown activities so Maple got to join me and my dogs for a day of fun 🐶♥️

Fetch the Pet has been running for only 2 months now and I couldn’t be happier with all my new furry friends 🐕
Watching them run around and play together and also coming back to check in on me is just so great to see 🥰

It's fireworks night tomorrow night, and while it is too late to desensitize our cats and dogs to the noises, here are a few safety tips for getting you through the weekend!

1. Stick to their normal routine. Make sure dogs have been walked and cats have their usual play time.

2. Bring them inside. Close cat/dog doors and if taking your dog out to toilet, do so on lead.

3. Set up a hidey-hole and sound proof it if possible.

4. Close the curtains and turn on some background noise. It will reduce the suddenness and drown it out....

5. Some animals like thundershirts, so if yours is used to one, pop it on early. Don't try it for the first time tonight though! Calming caps or ear covers may also help.

6. Give them something delicious to eat or keep them occupied with food puzzles (e.g. a kong with meat in it)

7. Stay with them, and yes you can reassure them! If they want to be stroked, do so. If not, just stay nearby. Stay calm.

8. Feed high value food (if they can eat...) while it's happening. e.g. a peice of schmacko or a temptation for each bang.

9. Use adaptil or feliway (Calming Pheremones) if you have them on hand.

If your dog or cat really struggles, there ARE things we can do to help. Medications can help, as can behaviour modification (desensitising) techniques. Noise sensitivity is something I can help you all with, so please- reach out and we can prepare for New Years or next fireworks season!

We are currently fostering this lovely young boy Charlie - I spotted him on Furever homes where I adopted my pups from and he was given 2 weeks to live if he didn’t find a home or foster 😢
A little about Charlie - he is 12 months old, loves other dogs, has met one cat since I’ve been fostering him and he just sniffed it and wagged his tail. Has been around kids and is fine with them and loves all people.
He’s a very sweet boy, obviously being young he gets very excited but also knows when to chill.
He has adapted to his new life in Queenstown very quick.

He has had one lot of vaccinations and due another lot in 4 weeks then he will be up to date. Is booked in to be desexed on the 8th of November and will be chipped at this time too. Furever homes are sorting out his registration.

Yesterday we done a drop in/15min walk for a young Theo. 🐕
Today we had Sadie come and join us for a few hours while her family went on the earnslaw - they’ve visited from Auckland 🐶 & how nice of the family to get me these socks ♥️

We’ve had a busy few days at Fetch the Pet, it’s been so much fun. We had 2 new members join our pack - Buzz & Koura 🐕

We even had 9 week old Tang join us for a couple hours of puppy sitting.

I love hanging out with these pups each week and getting them out and about sniffing, running and making new doggy friends. 🐾
