Horse of the week !!!
Beautiful condition Sally and Dave !! Excellent weight especially for this time of year as the grass is flourishing 🤪 Look at those beautiful dapples, telling us how healthy she is from the inside out 🥰
On a great track system which indeed is helping !
No pulling feet off the stand and was comfortable during her trim . Simplicity is key and less grass means less sore feet !
Keep up the great work guys ! Was a pleasure trimming 🥰

Spring is here ! Watch the grass and how much your horses are eating at the moment 😝 Too much fractose is detrimental to our equines as they cannot digest it and it basically turns blood toxic especially in their feet ... causing separation in the laminar, ripping and stretching lots of horrific pain as you can imagine.
Are you horses eyes bulging and no dents in the eye sockets , is his sheath swallon or her udder enlarged ?
Are they tender on the stones ?
Are they head flicking in the sunlight ?
Do they have runny eyes all the time?
These symptoms are all from grass ... oxalates effect horses like humans and thats what will contribute to
Muscle weakness , stiffness and lack of energy in our horses ...All from our grass especially at this time of year !
Please take note of your horses wisely and watch their grass intake carefully 😇

This is a great example of frequent trimming ... see how the frog opens and spreads out... it gets shorter fatter and wider with more use 😇

I am very pleased that Cruise is drinking rain water off the roof of his new yards as the borewater we have here is very high in iron, which sucks a lot of the good stuff out and leaves our horses depleted of many minerals etc making them more susceptible to things like laminitis , skin conditions etc
So if you have access to good water please give it to the horses if you can ... 😇

Happy august everyone... please watch your Equines closely! Laminitis is out there already ! The grass is coming through thick and fast as we have has a warmer winter than normal.
The horses are eating the short sweet grass before we even see it so dont let them convince you they're hungry if they are ...feed out hay not hard swèet feeds !
Exercise is important too , getting the heart rate up is a good thing ! Movement and diet are key to our healthy equines especially at this time of the year 🥰

HOMES NEEDED FOR GYPSY COB HORSES - based in Rodney , Auckland .

HUHA are helping find homes for the senior owner of these stunning purebred Gypsy Cobs , originally imported from the UK .

There are 26 pure bred Gypsy Cobs, Mares and Stallions, aged between 8-18. Also some yearlings. The younger ones have had little to no handling , but they are true to the Gypsy Cob nature and appear calm and steady.

They are $3000 each to be paid directly to the owner, to help her retire from breeding.

These horses will be available for collection Fri/Saturday this week or by arrangement.

They will be sold to approved homes only. They are not intended for breeding. Its a huge responsibility to match make unhandled horses to the right homes safely, and HUHA will be working through each application carefully, looking for the right home - not the first home
