Dr Liz’s dog ‘Lorax’ celebrated his 12th birthday at the clinic yesterday and we made sure to mark the occasion. He comes to work with his Mum daily and is well loved by all the staff (when he’s not trying to steal our lunches). HAPPY BIRTHDAY Lorax 🎉🎈🐕

Not all stones are precious, especially not when they are in your bladder. Little Nella went through not only 1, but 2 cystotomy surgeries in the last years to have her bladder stones removed. Despite that, she still strut the hall of the clinic during her post-op check like the little brave girl she is!!! Can you spot the stones in her X-ray? Video of surgery to follow.

Wolfie is such a head turner! Here he is rocking his Cool Collar!

We currently stock these cool collars with a range of designs for our smaller patients. These fabric collars can be a good substitute to the plastic buster collar in some situations. Please feel free to ask the front desk if this can be a suitable alternative for your pet! CoolCollars Lyttelton

Today is World Veterinarian Day. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the amazingly talented Veterinarians who I currently work with and also those who I have worked with in the past. I am privileged to have such a wonderful group of colleagues. The Veterinary Industry is filled with a lot of stress and responsibility but most of all…..compassion. This utterly adorable little corgi puppy ‘Toast’ came in for his puppy vaccinations today. He was so exhausted by all the attention and his examination he decided to have a quick snooze in his owner’s arms. Isn’t he the cutest???

This sweet little male kitten was brought in by a member of the public last night. He was found around Tiverton Rd. He has some significant injuries which need addressing. If he is yours please get in contact with Blockhouse Bay Vets (09) 626 3456. We will need some proof of ownership. In the meantime we will be looking after him and managing his care.

EDIT: We have one phone line working compared to our usual three lines. Chorus reports we should be up and running by tomorrow but in case we aren’t, please bear with us during this outage. We are doing the best we can and understand how difficult this time is for our pet parents 😢. If you can’t get through and have an emergency, please just come directly down to the clinic between 8am and 5.30pm and we will triage as best as possible (bearing in mind there might be a wait). Dr Fiona brought her Polydactyl Maine C**n kitten ‘Chilli Winter’ in to the clinic today to X-ray her feet (poly meaning ‘many’ and dactyl meaning ‘toes’). Most cats have 5 digits/toes on both front feet. Can you count how many ’Chilli Winter’ has on hers?

What’s better than one kitten, two kittens!!! Maeve and Johnson are up for adoption as a bonded pair. They may have been brought into the clinic as seperate kittens but they have been each other’s buddy since they laid eyes on one another. They love to play and go on adventures together. They love to snuggle up together or with you.

They are 14-16weeks old, desexed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations.

We would like to round out 2023 with the best eyes of the year!!! Meet Storm! Other than winning the hearts of our staff whenever he comes into the clinic, he is also an awesome moral support for his brother Bali when it’s his turn to see the vets! We hope everyone had a wonderful 2023 and wish you an even happier 2024!!!

Is this little cutie yours? She was found on Hilling Street Green Bay/Titirangi and was brought into the clinic today. The lovely people who found and took care of her had tried to ask around and could not find her owners which we are sure is missing her dearly. She is not microchipped. We will hold her for 7 days and if we still can’t reunite her with her owner, we will proceed to foster her out.

🦠🦠🦠 Hopefully this will be last Covid related post 🤞. Unfortunately we don’t have a Vet available to work tomorrow but we will be open 8.30am to 12pm for Nurse advice, food and pre-ordered prescription pick ups. We aim to be back to a fully functioning team next week. Thanks community 💕🦠🦠🦠

🦠ONGOING COVID🦠

We seem to be dropping like flies at the moment and as such we don’t have enough staff to keep the clinic open for the full day tomorrow.

Please note we will be CLOSING AT 3PM tomorrow (Wednesday 15th)

We will be open 8am - 6pm on Thursday.

Thanks again for your ongoing support and patience. Please make sure if you need to pick up food or scripts you do this today or before 3pm tomorrow 🥰

🦠COVID ALERT🦠

Unfortunately over the weekend several staff members have tested positive for Covid as well as some Covid negative staff members are currently having to look after their Covid positive family members at home.

As a result of this we will be EXTREMELY short staffed over the following week. We may need to reschedule some routine annual vaccinations and routine surgeries to make sure we have enough Staff and time to tend to the sick/unwell patients and urgent surgeries with the high level of attention and care we always provide.

We know how frustrating this is and we do apologise. We Thank you in advance for your kindness and understanding 🥰
